When both were unbeaten I would have picked trinidad at 154 lbs in 2001

I think Shane is probably greater historically but head to head i'd favor Trinidad.

He was no beast unless that means a protected fighter. You blast Oscar "Chicken Legs" yet Chicken legs won at least 8 rounds versus a prime cheato. He had a Hopkinsesque shit resume at 147 ducking Quartey and Pea until Pea was released from rehab after not fighting for almost 2 years.

Tito was at best a decent world class fighter all-time but people talk like he was an atg which is laughable.

Agreed, he was a good B+ fighter as Hut says, world class, great at crushing B level fighters, but fell short at elite level.

People talk about him as an elite fighter which is laughable. He would lose to almost every elite welter, junior middle or middle in boxing history.

Head to head, as Whiskey said, I like Trinidad in that matchup... but taking everything else into consideration, Mosley probably rates a tiny bit ahead of him historically speaking

Mosley fought more guys but there isn't anybody Mosley beat that Trinidad couldn't beat, really.

Be that as it may, head to head I think Trinidad gives him a beating. Fun fight but Mosley was never a "thinking fighter" nor did he have the classic skills to pull off what Hopkins or De La Hoya(For most of the first 8 rounds did) did.

He'd stand there and FIGHT and he'd badly get the worst of it.

I can't believe Tito is leading 2 to 1. Once it again it shows how hideously overrated he really is.

Mosley as a Lightweight vs Tito as a welterweight = Mosley

Mosley as a welterweight vs Tito as a middleweight = Mosley

Head to head as welters? Probably still Mosley

Tito would have kicked Mosley's ass at 147 or 154.

Shit, I said that back in 01.

Tito would have to KO Mosley. Possible, not a foregone conclusion.

But in terms of the thread question it's not the key question since at their best Tito is two divisions bigger.

The Mosley that beat Oscar would have schooled Tito.

And yes, Tito would have to KO Shane to win, which is unlikely. Mosley wouldn't be stupid enough to just march forward into Tito's retard anvil hooks, he'd use a lot of lateral movement, a jab, and flurry Tito into bolivian.

Yeah Mosley going toe-to-toe with Trinidad would have love to see that....

Actually that's the only way Mosley fights....

Shane vs Tito would have been a great fight. Someone would have gotten knocked out. Tito punched like a mule kick (with faulty handwraps) but Shane had a great chin.

Tito might land first but I'm not so sure he could take the incoming. Shane had such fast hands that in a firefight I think he lands first.

Historically speaking Shane was a better fighter. Tito was far more popular than Shane ever was...thus folks remember him more fondly than necessary.

A KO really is the least likely outcome.

Shane isn't going to just stand there and get tagged. Tito hits harder but Shane hits hard enough to keep Trinidad honest, and has the handspeed to always get off first and disrupt Tito's rhythm, Trinidad needs to be set to punch.

Plus he'll be firing combos down the middle, Tito came in straight lines. Mosley wins.

Mosley was plenty stupid. :giggle: Tito has a pretty good style for him though. He'd get off first and hard, again and again.

You're right, but not THAT stupid, he'd know how to fight Tito IMO, which is not go toe to toe, use lateral movement, not let Tito get set, and fire first, hard and fast like you said, disrupt Tito's rhythm.

He would grapple Tito when he got close too, like he did Plasterito.

Trinidad would get frustrated, and just plod after Mosley, firing the odd big anvil hook.
