Andy Carroll has had more headed attempts (41) than any other player in the Premier League this season, yet only scored 1 headed goal ::
I wonder if Gary Hopper will get an England call up. Yeah, Spl & all that but I think he's worth Hodgson having a look at. Better than Jelavic, who's done not bad....3rd best strike rate in europe behind messi & Ronaldo, btw! :::Thumbs:
In fairness, some of the saves from his headers were top drawer stuff, and he hit the woodwork too. Carroll is a good player.
I'm still a fan of Carroll's. He's had a horrid time and luck has been against him regarding some outstanding saves keepers have made against him. He's improving though. I think his luck will change and think next season will be much better for him.
:dunno: I do know that if Spurs/Arsenal finish 4th and Chelsea win the CL, that Chelsea will play in CL next year and Spurs/Arsenal will play in the Europa League. You are only safe if Chelsea don't win the CL or if you finish 3rd. Thats all I know about that- it stems from 2005 when Liverpool finished 5th and won the European Cup the same year.
Just heard they've changed the ruling again. If Chelsea win the champs league, Newcastle say (if they finish 4th) will be in the qualifying round for the champs league.
Well thats very fair. It might be that they re-jigged it to get this done fairly, who knows, I wonder will the tabloids give UEFA some credit now?
Possibly, but I bet there will be an uproar....."too many English clubs allowed to compete in the champions league" etc.
I call bs. England get 4 places in the cl at the moment. No less no more. It is my understanding they changed the rule after Liverpool in 05. I.E if you win it you claim one of the four. The fa canny give themselves extra places in the cl. I also remember reading that the fa do not have to grant the top 4 with cl places. They can allocate as they see fit. If that is the case how about 3 for the epl and one for the fa cup.. Thoughts ?
Give the spot to the next team in the league, give a little value back to the fa cup. ?? Lay off the sauce
The FA cup has definitely lost some value, so to award the winner of it a champions league spot makes perfect sense to me.
Aye, let the irish teams join too. Be brilliant Celtic vs Everton at St James park in the league cup semi final. Rangers vs Leeds United 3rd round league cup, live on Sky Hibs vs Cardiff, winner meets Sheffield Wednesday Linfield vs Bohemians, winner home to Celtic :: Celtic vs Chelsea in the league cup quarter final :crafty: Be great
