Physically he is talented. Mentally he is a scrub. He's a small, black Golota without the low-blows, just a chronic choker.
WBC rankings from fightnews WBC Floyd Mayweather 1. Manny Pacquiao 1. Selcuk Aydin 2. Devon Alexander 3. Thomas Dulorme 4. Victor Ortiz 5. Erik Morales 6. Kell Brook 7. Anton Novikov 8. Andre Berto 9. Ed Paredes 10. Ionut Dan Ion
I tried looking at the WBC site, but they appear to have been hacked. In reality, where the WBC ranks Morales doesn't mean anything. They are shady and favor mexicans.
I found the same ranking on another site, you were right Steve_dave. Those are the May 2012 WBC rankings with Morales still at #5.
You'll notice those are welter rankings too. Morales was the WBC 140lb champ. He was stripped of the belt for missing weight so I guess he's technically fought at welter once... although he lost. ::
It's a shame Max didn't stick with ESPN. He was a great spokesperson for the mainstream, constantly speaking out against the shitty parts of boxing. He's not suited for his current gig at all. He was great in the studio.
The best Margarito is better than the best Clottey. Quite a bit better. Are you claiming otherwise? The worst Margarito is probably as good as the best Clottey, but with worse defense so he can be taken out, but with better offense so he'll have a chance to win. Clottey is just another day at the office for world class fighters. Margarito, hot gloves or not, is a challenge.
:: at the "best" Plasterito, the "best" Plasterito had fucking cement in his gloves. As Pacquiao and Cotto proved, Plasterito without magic wraps is just a walking punch bag. A tough, determined punchbag, but still just a big tough scrub. Clottey is nothing at world level as I said, just average, but without his magic wraps, it's clear the Plasterito is worse.
Plasterito walks forward eating and throwing punches, I don't think the fight would have been any different without the impaired eye. It's not like he's a precision counter puncher, with amazing defense. It was also good enough to have the fight sanctioned, it's not like he was blind. The main difference was the lack of magic wraps., he hit Cotto a decent amount, and surprise surprise, they didn't have anywhere near the same effect as before. Lest we not forget, Cotto was schooling him in the early rounds of the first fight too before the wraps took over.
Margarito had just had his best round when the fight was stopped. Who's to say that he couldn't have stopped Cotto in the remaining rounds? Margarito was ready to keep going and the stoppage was based entirely on a pre existing injury.
