Against this Williams, Ginger via either late TKO or UD is the most likely result. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing it. TP figures to test Canelo more than the corpse of Shane could. Likely a better test than glass chinned Kirkland would offer either.
Williams takes too many punches. I wouldn't be surprised in Ginger lays him the fuck out. I would take the Pre Martinez to beat Ginger though.
Triple agreed. Although if Canelo continues to improve i may change my mind about his chances against prime tall Paul.
Williams. ANOTHER fighter written off as shot to pieces after one loss (and one sluggish performance after, admittedly).
I kind of agree. He looked terrible against Lara... but all his bad performances have been against fast southpaws. Not sure why he keeps fighting fast southpaws.
Thanks. The point was immediately dismissed after the Lara fight, but I think it's worth considering.
Paul looks like he's lost his confidence, something that was a very important part of his risky style A KO loss like that can have an incredible long-term effect on some guys. I think he's a damaged fighter psychologically, frankly
IMO he is mentally like Tommy Hearns: when he thinks he has a beatable boxer in from of him, he will go for the kill. Otherwise he will jump to the bicycle to avoid further damage to his chin.
LOL. It doesn't matter how he is mentally. The difference is Hearns actually had the ABILITY to do both. The power to go for the kill, and the skills to hop on his bike. Paul has neither the power nor the skills to pull off either.
Not shocking if this is made. But I would never bet with confidence on Canelo. He struggled with Gomez for fucks sake. In the meantime, Lara will be ducked by everyone.
No, just Gomez outboxing him in 2 or 3 rounds of their fight, before Alvarez hurt him, jumped on him, and got an early stoppage.
The stoppage was bullshit. Canelo would have won by stoppage regardless, but the ref was CLEARLY waiting for the first opportunity to stop it in Canelo's favor. I was upset mainly because I hate that bum Gomez, and was looking forward to seeing him KO'd in highlight reel type fashion.
Agree. It's just a bad matchup for any version of Williams since Alvarez has gotten as good as he is right now. Unless you are a hard-hitting bruiser who can beat him in a shootout or a slickster who can peck and run, Alvarez's style and talent are going to make for a tough night.
