Pity. He did a decent job considering they were three points or so off the relegation spot when he took over. He actually lost his best striker and still overhauled Everton- that rarely comes up- and even made a mad dash for Europe at that. Got silverware and got to another final. I think the Suarez thing {mostly bollox as it was} but more pertinently the Summer signings played a role in the problems. He's not damaged his reputation at all, I always felt he had a frail, thoroughbred look about him. Wonder who they will get now.
Brendan Rodgers? They are having a laugh- Martinez is another Moyes- great man for getting an engine to run on shampoo, that doesn't mean he is an F1 legend in the making either. Pardew? Pardon? Mourinho can fuck off. He's an odious turd. Capello might be worth a look.
So what? The only player he should not have brought to the club is Downing... Did he overpay for Henderson / Carroll absolutely but that is the name of the game when you buy english..
We are in a right pickle no manager no money another 3-4 year plan :Steve-Dave/MMA: Moneyball aint gonna cut it in the EPL
The buck stops with him. He has bought an absolute load of shite, just like he did at NUFC, and his team became a dangerous cup side/mid-table league fodder. Just like NUFC 1996/7. Utterly predictable. MTF
Well we all know your form when it comes to Kenny, pointless even discussing the man.. Carroll, Adam, Henderson, Doni, saurez are far from shite.. People are raving about cisse and ba because that is not the norm, it's very rare you buy a player and he hits the ground running. Kenny deserved another year, if you put that axe down you would agree
He should have never have been appointed. His tenure at NUFC and Celtic demonstrated conclusively that he has no-fucking-clue how to manage a football club today, or indeed in the last fifteen years. Only Suarez and an in-form Carroll of the players listed are good enough to play for Liverpool- the rest are cack. For example, he spent £35m on Carroll (which funded Ba, Cisse, Cabaye and Ben Arfa with £15m change btw) and had no idea how to get the best out of him, completely ruined his confidence through appalling man-management. His handling of the Suarez case was shockingly bad and out of touch with the reality of the situation. I said when he was appointed what would happen to Liverpool: turn into a decent cup side but sink to league mediocrity. I was shouted down because I am too biased... :: As discussed with Irish many, many times- my beef with Dalglish is nothing personal, it is based upon his disastrous tenure at NUFC. The facts are that he turned Newcastle United from one of the best sides in Europe into cannon fodder inside less than a year. I know he is an Anfield legend, but his appointment was the same sentimental slush that saw Keegan reappointed here in '08. LFC is better off without IMO. MTF
I think Dalglish should have been given more time, you can't keep chopping people during a transitional period. Downing was a horrific buy though, what the fuck do football managers see in that guy? He's always been shite.
