Carlos Quintana is pushing for a match against Canelo @154. I will say this, if El Indio has 1 more performance left in him he may pull out the upset IMO. Carlos has a very awkward style and would have picked a pre Williams Quintana to beat Canelo. At this stage of the game its a very risky fight to take for Team Canelo. Thoughts???
Canelo should be the favorite of course, but Quintana is a spoiler. He just might be able to pull something off with the lack of experience and skill of Canelo.
While this maybe be bias talking, and if so, oh well. I think of Carlos can keep his stamina up, he can box ginger's ears off to a decision.
Could be a good matchup. I probably wouldn't take it if i was Canelo's team. It's still important for him to not only win, but look good doing it. That could be difficult against Quintana unless he's slipped even further.
I agree. Canelo has slow foot-speed which plays right into Quintana. If Carlos has anything left he can come out the winner here.
Quintana punches looked slow and push against Lattimore. His movement/foot speed look good but that's about it. A few well place body shots by Canelo and he would put a stop to all that moving. Lattimore is/was mediocre. Loaded up every punch and with every missed punch Quintana would counter easily.
Fair enough. I think this comes down to how much Quintana has left. I also agree he hasnt looked very good lately. But he can be a spoiler for sure. I think its a high risk fight for Canelo.
If Canelo is thinking of fighting Cotto sometime in the winter....the a fight vs. Quintana is a great set up...he already beaten a few pr fighters Cotto's brother, Cintron, Quintana...More meaningful than beating Kirkland...and less risky than fighting Williams..
lattimore is a sparring partner who got his ass kicked by mayweather jr for 6 weeks or so. and he was still able to get with quintana at times. dont really see quintana doing too much with alvarez.
I'm with Neil. Ginger stops Quintana. The younger Quintana, meaning the one that beat Julio and Williams, might be able to pull the upset, but I think he's too long in the tooth now.
Quintana looked a bit shot against Oh Boy Oh Berto, should be a relatively easy fight for the Ginger unfortunately.
Quintana is good at exposing overrated frauds but gets a beating when he faces top competition. I don't think Alvarez is great by any means but he should beat the living hell out of the rican.
