I agree with this. And also - since Barca and manUre didn't win, I'm even happier.

Torres was unhappy with how he was left out of the team after guiding Chelski into the champs league final. He seemed happy enough when interviewed on tv on the bus parade though.

Agreed. It says something when he is one of the most hated guys in the country, who plays for one of the most hated teams, gets abuse from all ends but nobody ever knocks his ability as a footballer. Best left back in Prem history.

I don't really understand what this statement is in aid of....

2006 St. Louis Cardinals are one of the worst if not worst teams to ever win the baseball world series, if I say that to my good friend (a die hard STL Cardinals fan) he'll laugh at me and ask how many world series rings my favourite team has won? Then he can show me his t-shirts and pictures of when he was celebrating his team winning the whole fuckin dance.

You can go down the list in a bunch of different sports, at some point you have to give the team some credit for winning.

I happen to think the NY Giants own two of the luckiest, biggest fluke Superbowl wins I've ever witnessed in American football, you think their fans care?

I'd trade one of Arsenal's excellent seasons for a top 6 finish and a Champions League title... no matter how much "better" or "worse" people rated them

Which devalues the trophy, frankly. It's meant to be a means of finding the best team in europe, which by definition Chelsea aren't even close to being.

it's a shame they beat all the teams they played in the tournament. if you think that the way the tournament is set up is flawed (previous year's results qualify you for next years tourney) then that's a different argument.

were you upset about Milan winning in 2007? they finished 4th in Italy that year, damn near 40 points behind Inter... clearly they weren't the best team in Europe except that they won the European club trophy by beating all the teams they faced?

plus who's to say that with their new manager Chelsea weren't the best team in Europe??? Munich couldn't even beat them in their home country. they also clearly weren't fielding top players in every Prem match towards the end of the year (the Arsenal 0-0 draw for one) because they were busy winning the FA and CL cups...

If John Ruiz had fought Lennox Lewis, been outboxed for 11 1/2 rounds in the most eye watering negative performance we've ever seen, barely throwing a punch, then landed a KO blow as Lewis slipped on some vaseline, I'd post that was the worst and least deserving champ ever. That's what I'd post, so I would.

but if he did it multiple times while winning two major tournaments? you think he might deserve some credit?

to each their own... seems you're only upset because it's Chelsea. I always think it's a rather hollow thing to say - "worst CL winner ever" so i guess that means we just witnessed the worst level of competition in CL history, too... since Chelsea beat all of them

It's really not just because it's Chelsea, there have been other winners & finalists in the last decade I felt devalued the tournament, too. Admittedly it wouldn't piss me off and I wouldn't be banging on about it so much if it had been another team this year, I'll give you that. But the way Chelsea came to be where they are as a club is the added base layer of luck & stink this episode plays out on.

To wrap up my bitch - I'd like to see the tournament reformed. Less teams per country, and penalty shoot outs shouldn't decide european finals. And the sooner these fair play rules limiting wages to a ratio of turnover come in and Chelsea are bankrupted the better.
