    Oh fuck it

I might have to reconsider my status as a Pacquiao fan.

i like bradley. he's not the most exciting guy to watch, but he's always in shape, commits hard to take rounds and his chin's been tested. not sure how he'd fare at 147 considering he didn't look too hot vs. abregu, but based on manny's last fight, i think he stands a great chance in pulling an upset.

To me, it all comes down to how well Bradley can acclimate to this type of stage, this type of spectacle. Sometimes, a guy will get a little bit of boxing-style stagefright. If Bradley can deal favorably with being in the biggest fight of his career, I suspect he has the tools to give Pacquiao quite a stern test. I'm rooting for him, we need new blood, something invigorating and I'm sick of Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather and all of the bullshit the two have inflicted on the sport and its fans over the last 4 years. I'd love to see both of them knocked off. This is the first fight in quite some time where I think there is at least a possibility of that happening and I look forward to it. Experience is a factor, though... Manny has been in the spotlight for years, he's used to the spectacle. Bradley has no such experience. All depends on how loose Bradley is when the bell rings.

    Simple

All the ref has to do is take the belt, whatever belt it is, that they are fighting for and announce his intention to rip it in half... the first of the two fighters to cry will have been revealed as the true believer and to him shall go God's divine light

I don't think that's even part of the equation with Bradley to be honest. He seems like a very focused and determined guy, the opposite of a bitch like Ortiz.

I bet he isn't phased at all by the huge stage.

Still, he's never been anywhere near this kind if spotlight... it could be a factor and it has been in the past

Let's watch 24-7 and then act offended when we're subjected to bits about Pacquiao's religious views. He really should censor himself. Doesn't he know his fans, the ones watching 24-7 at least, are a bunch of secular cry-baby liberals who look to Hollywood for meaning and clarity?

First off, Hollywood has nothing on 24/7 which is a sugar-coated crock of shit in itself.

Secondly, for a little man to be stood there telling me that his ability to beat on other people is a "gift from God" is all just a bit much, unless God is called Conte or Alex.

Manny's good at the politics now, isn't he. He's going to go back to the Philippines soon and tell the squalid masses not to worry, that God is going to come into their lives and make everything ok.

Bradley 7/1 to win by decision/technical decision. I'm having a big of that.

Bradley's big head won me big against Alexander. My main bet was him by decision hedged with the fight not going the distance :crafty:

touche. I get the feeling more than anything he's trying to fix his family right now. If he's turned to religion to do so, it's every bit as valid as cry-baby couples therapy. He doesn't get style points for making it a public issue, but nobody's stomach is turning that wasn't already weak.

I thought Bradley Vs Alexander would go the distance, but I was 99.5% sure Bradley would win.

Those odds are tempting here, I must admit. It seems silly to bet against Pacquiao, but I can really imagine a supercharged Bradley outhustling an unmotivated Pacquiao.

Usually I feel exactly the same way, it's a definite factor, and it does happen where guys freeze a bit on the big stage and don't perform to their potential.

I just can't see it with Bradley though, he is so confident and focused and mentally strong.

I guess you never know though until they fight.

I'd say Ortiz's inexperience, at a minimum, was a factor in his losing the way he did. And whether it was also true in Ortiz's case or not, I think it does happen that the admiration and respect that up and coming fighters have for superstar opponents (in this case Pacquiao; in Ortiz's case, PBF), can compromise their performance. The tendency of these up and coming fighters to deride their superstar opponents is a sign of this, as they work to convince themselves they're not worthy of the regard they can't help but have for them.

Whether we can substantiate it with concrete examples or not, there's no doubt that experience in big fights against top opponents is an asset for fighters and that a lack of this experience is thus a liability.
