It's amazing that he is an elite fighter when you think about it, he really is the Fighting Farmer. Strong, tough, durable, agricultural.
He saw Froch as the oldest, easiest chance of solidifying his ludicrous ranking. Bute had SPEED, big power...was going to ice Froch who is slow, shopworn etc. That is why he came over. And he was exposed. I hate that word, but he was. MTF
No. Froch would have gotten beaten up by Hopkins because Hopkins does what Froch does only at a slightly higher power of stink. Froch is Hard to the Power of 5, but Hopkins is Stink to the Power of 10. Also.....Joe beat Kessler, took his unbeaten record, which is what Kess did to Froch.
The thing is several of us were calling Boot overrated all along, and were very confident of a Frock victory. It's not a hindsight thing. I think no one knew just how good Boot was at this level, so I guess it was a kind of interesting fight in that sense, and the truth is the Boot detractors were right.
I dont know how anyone could make an argument otherwise. Froch has literally fought everyone there is to fight in his division. Joe didnt get around to jones and hopkins until later
Love the fighting farmer. Hopeless technique, slow, no real power...but a warrior. A total warrior. MTF
Agreed, I don't like that word, it's overused, but the truth is he'd never faced anyone as good as Frock and when he did, he got, well, harvested.
Vitali lite. Cannot do a thing right. He's not lego, he's fucking meccano. Can you do anything with him? Not a chance.
Absolutely, how can you not love a guy like that. And unlike a plucky, likeable journeyman, the fact is Frock is somehow an elite fighter, and a winner.
Some of his attempts to end the fight were terrible, slow, arm punching bursts. They weren't even arm punches, they were hand punches, wrist punches. But he found that straight right over and over and there was one peach of a shot in the penultimate assault.
Shit happens. Especially when you travel. Although I'm glad that Froch won, now I hope Bute kicks his ass in an immediate rematch just to prove a point that boxing fans should know, but many seem to constantly forget.
Let Ward take his Pedding, head butting self over to England and pass the WADA and VADA tests. Ward beat Froch, but Froch got Bute's scalp. Froch earned a rematch, on his home patch.
It could happen, its happened before in boxing. Patterson vs Johannson for instance. I wouldn't rule it out.
whatever, the ref was very lenient to Bute clinching. The home advantage played for nothing in this fight
I guess there are similarities actually, in their core components and makeup as fighters. Vitali is a bit more skilled and technical though, with much better defense.
Well, this fight demonstrated another equally annoying, equally forgotten and related maxim: Fights aren't won on paper.
I sort of agree with him. We have seen it before where a guy gets his arse burst and wins a rematch. Who knows. I wouldn't rule a thing out yet.
Maybe not. I didn't get to watch the fight. But the home advantage isn't just about crowd, it's about travel, time zones, training interruption, etc.
No, he's just "taller" :wack: froch is a distance fighter who seems unusually comfortable at close range.
Vitali is a much better fighter than Froch IMO. But so was Taylor, Bute, Pascal, Abraham etc etc Froch's success is bizarre. He has no real skills bar bravery and stamina. Yet he wins more than he loses in elite company. MTF
