He basically quit tonight and didn't tried too much eihter, pretty much as expected of him. Shitty main event
he got clocked and was obviously disoriented. i was surprised that he made it out of the first round.
BTW, I didn't liked the Velasquez-Silva fight at all. I'm probably in the minority but I don't give Cain full credit for that victory as it was obvious Big Foot couldn't see at all due to the blood and couldn't do anything because of this ( yeah I know some will argue that the cut was due to Cain's elbow but imo, such occurence are lucky break ). I guess it's probably against the rule, but if not, his corner should have been given a chance to stop the bleeding before resuming the fight as it was obvious the blood was coming directly into his eyes.
hmm, cain took his big ass down immediately and proceeded to beat him down. not sure how else it would've played out considering there's not a single thing that silva does better than cain aside from a heel hook. this is also the same guy who got knocked out by cain's teammate in his last fight.
Um, that's just part of MMA. Fighters throw elbows on purpose to create cuts and hinder the other fighter's vision etc. Nothing lucky about it, Cain took him down, cut him up, and pounded him out.
exactly. I thought it was a very good performance. Mex do you think Cain could be more competitive against Dos Santos in a rematch?
I was shocked by the amount of blood that elbow caused to spray out---it was pretty gruesome at times. Man, Roy Nelson landed a nice right hand. He hit Dave Herman so hard that the guy converted to a different religion and started praying for a split second. ::
If there's nothing lucky about the cut Silva had, then you should be able to easilly name a couple times when a cut like this, wich bled so much and directly into the eyes, happnened so early in the fight. You say you can't ? That's exactly why it's flukish.

these are not really anything alike, first of all, the cut occured toward the end of the round after Stevenson was manhandled, knocked down and mountend. secondly the cut seems to me high on the forehead and not impairing his vision nearly has much has it did bigfoot. Finally, rogan mention that it's one of the worst bleeding cut he has ever seen, that BigFoot cut seems to make this one mild by comparaison should show you the flukishness of it
There's also been a couple of random fights in the TUF house with huge elbow gashes in the first round. It's really an absurd statement. It's like saying Tua Vs Ruiz is flukish. If you throw fast, hard punches at your opponents and it knocks them the fuck out quickly, that's not a fluke, that's the intended result. If you throw hard elbows at your opponents with the intention of cutting him, he gets cut, it impairs his fighting ability, and you win, that's not a fucking fluke either, it's the intended result ::
You'd have to think so, he couldn't do any worse. I still see JDS doing a number on him thuogh to be honest, maybe not an easy 1 punch KO, but I see him controlling Cain and finishing him on his feet. JDS is fast for his size, very focused, good boxing for MMA, and hard to take down. Very well rounded fighter. Cain surely puts up a better effort than before, but I still can't see him being actually competitive, partly because I doubt he even gets JDS to the floor.
Im wondering if Cain froze in the first fight. First time on fox, first title defense. Lots of pressure. But i dont know
I don't see how the "fluke" cut really matters. All it did was shorten the fight. Bigfoot wasn't getting back to his feet. If he didn't get cut, he was still getting pounded out on the ground. That's really Cain's strenght, top control and GNP. It's not like Silva was going to defend those elbows anyway. He wasn't cut when the first one landed.
The blood could have messed with his ability to use his BJJ properly. I would love to see a rematch. I think the blood could have been an issue, but that is a part of the game. Hopefully he gets a rematch where he can prove himself again.
I disagree, Cain ground and pound and control is good but it's not like he's finishing fight with it. The only worthy opponenet he finished that way was Rothwell and the fight was stopped just as Rothwell was getting back up and not looking hurt at all ( he seemed more exhausted than anything ). Kongo, who doesn't own the sturdiest chin, never seemed hurt after getting pounded on for 3 rounds neither. I seriously doubt he was going to stop Silva in the first without the cut. Was he going to win, most likely yes, but I feel the fight would have been far different.
velasquez's best chance is to take JDS down, but that's a huge task as it is and cain well fall again if he gets clocked on his way to go for a leg. JDS' stand up is simply the best. he's almost like liddell who pretty much averted takedowns and boxed his way into winning. actually, i think JDS' boxing is much more polished than chuck's.
I'm pretty sure Cain finished Jake O'Brien on the ground via GNP. I think he got him in the crucifix and pounded him until the ref stopped it. He also beat Brad Morris with complete ground control and a battering on the ground. And I think I remember him finishishing Dennis Stojnic with ground and pound as well. Cain unmercifully beat Jesse Fujarczky in his MMA debut on Strikeforce with GNP. So, yeah, Cain's only finished 50% of his UFC victims via GNP. And 60% of all his wins are via GNP. What was I thinking? The bottom line is Cain's control on the ground and his ability to land big shots whether on top or scrambling is well-documented for anyone that's watched him SINCE his MMA debut. Bigfoot was done the second Cain took him down.
You really think so? Man i wish that cut didnt happen. I think the fight could have been better. But you might be absolutely right.
i doubt that cain will get an immediate title shot. i think he'll face werdum for the legitimate no. 1 contender spot.
Well, that is why I pointed out all of Cain's victories via GNP. In all honesty, I throw out the fights with Nog, Lesnar and JDS as they were all relatively quick fights. But other than those, Cain has basically beaten guys on the ground with control and vicious punches from dominant positions. Even his fight with Kongo, which went the distance, he spent 13 of 15 minutes on the ground and mounted Kongo 5 times. He also landed something like 200+ strikes. Since the quick KO of Nog, it seems people forget that Cain earned his ranking by controlling guys on the ground and beating them senseless. And I've never seen anything from Bigfoot to make me think he would get Cain off him.
yea, now that i think about it, the only other viable heavyweight is probably stephen struve (a guy who he KOed in 1). he could fight either werdum or velasquez next (both guys who he knocked out in 1 round)
Yeah he has a few submissions, but nothing off his back. I dont know, i just dont want to give up on him yet. Im hoping he can be competative. HW division is looking slim all of a sudden.
