None. There really is no heavyweight division in strikeforce.

well they should either make that division obsolete like they did in WEC or recyle the likes of Mir, Congo, Schaub and few others to make it at least relevant.

Are Barnett and Cormier the last 2 HW's in Strikeforce? I cannot think of a single other HW that hasn't already gone to the UFC.

so you list a couple of losers that Cain finished with ground and pound to argue that Cain wold have finished BigFoot in the 1st without the cut ( btw, the Stojinic tko was early if I remember well and it strenghten more my point than yours as Cain beat on him all fight long without really hurting him ), while I showed that every top opponent Cain faced, he didn't really hurt them with ground and pound.

Cain doesn't have much power, people called him pillow fisted until he KO'd big Nog. I still don't think he has any power. He would have still beaten Bigfoot without the cut though. Cain's wrestling and top control are just too much for Bigfoot.

Dude, I didn't just list a couple of losers that Cain finished. I listed the fights Cain won via ground and pound. And I listed Kongo, who Cain didn't finish but did clearly beat as a result of top control and GNP. It was his primary method of winning until he caught Nog with a big shot.

Think about it. Every single fight for Cain up until Nog was won with wrestling and GNP. After Nog, the Lesnar and JDS were over so quickly that he did get to or need to employ his GNP.

I know it sucks to be wrong, but the truth of the matter is that the majority of Cain's success in MMA is a result of ground control and landing strikes from a dominant position.

Seriously, if you think the wins over Nog or Lesnar is more indicative of Cain's strength as a fighter, then we just need to stop talking.

And by the way, you don't have to knock a guy out to win via ground and pound. Most of Cain's GNP victims were still awake but not intelligently defending themselves.

Bigfoot would have faced the same end. He had no defense for Cain's elbow before the cut and would have had no defense even without the cut. Cain is a position-control and GNP animal and an oak like Silva wasn't escaping. The notion that Bigfoot scrambles to his feet or pulls off a submission is silly.

Strike Force officially abolished their heavyweight division a while back, saying they would only do 2 more fights, the tournament final, and one additional fight, and that would be it.

In related news, Cole Konrad defended his Bellator title last Friday night via a very delicate kimura and remains undefeated.

I think they said they will have two more for each fighter. Barnett and Cromier.

I think it goes more to the UFC's weakness at heavyweight than Strikeforce needing to abolish the weight class. They could have kept it alive if not for the UFC going cannibal on them.

Imo, heavyweight (or superheavyweight) should be the most popular weight class in mma for the same reason it should be in boxing--it's where the best fighters in the absolute sense are.

All you have to do is pick up guys with good records, pay them more than they were making, and let them fight each other. It's how Bellator works, it's how pretty much everyone but the UFC works.

Frank looked a little heavy to me. He took a lot of big shots in that fight. At the end of the fight, I thought he was exhausted and struggled to get back on his feet. I wouldn't save he quit or lacked heart. Junior just beat him up

To add to the whole fiasco, Mir was approved for TRT for the fight

Just read that. More BS. The athletic commissions are saying goodbye to a level playing field.

By the way, someone on here was talking about Mir as a suspected PED user a few weeks back. This adds credence to that theory.

If you need TRT, you're not really a professional athlete. You need assistance, and that is some BS.

Exactly. Shame on them for allowing this.
