Possibly, I guess I've just never been that high on Kessler, plus Kessler has pretty much looked like Kessler post Calzaghe. Kessler is a good fighter, but I was really surprised at the time that most people were picking him to beat Slappy Joe.
Now Kessler is past it, according to Ike? :: His career best win was 2 fights ago & he's won both fights since by KO
Hut, bear in mind, I almost never use the word shot. I don't think Pavlik is shot, or most of the fighters I've talked about not being what they once were. What I mean is just past prime, which is very different. For example, even Marquez isn't shot, pushing 40, he's still an amazingly effective fighter, but it would be nuts to think he's NOT past prime. Plus Manny and Floyd, probably the 2 best fighters in the world, are both past prime. Neither one is even close to being "shot", but they are clearly not in their prime. Despite being 5 years older, Frock is closer to being at his best than Pavlik.
Yeah I agree actually, in fact I was more impressed with him Vs Frock than I ever have been. Ike, Kessler is the same as ever.
If you honestly don't think Kessler is diminished, you know nothing about boxing. Nothing.I could tell he diminished just watching him train. HE used to be very sharp. I think it shows how goo he is beating froch while being past his best. He isn't shot, but he went south really fast.
If he's past prime it's not by much, he looked as good as he ever has done Vs Frock, pretty sharp, and actually a bit more motivated than usual. One thing I always hated about Kessler is he was too clinical and soulless in the ring, like Tszyu. Against Frock he fought with more gusto for once.
He was diminished against Froch. Not as quick on his feet as he once was, and his timing wasn't as good. The Andrade fight version of Kessler would have whupped Froch more clearly. I'm positive of that.
