Talk about talking a lot and saying so little... Unless I miss my guess, the whole purpose of the MM forum is to talk about fighters from different times would do against each other. Cooney vs Arreola is a match up of two fighters who failed in title shots against the top guy in their division. And if you want to fall back on alphabet rankings, it was pretty well known back in the day that Cooney's #1 ranking was suspect since his biggest wins were against washed up former top heavies like Norton, Lyle and Young.
I don't see what it would be so far-fetched about thinking it might be a competitive fight. Other than doing well against Holmes, Cooney never did anything to set himself apart from other middle of the pack heavies. Arreola would probably be the most impressive win on Cooney's resume and vice versa. Good fight.
