    there is no positive

there's nothing more annoying than when a casual boxing fan calling every fight "a fix"....then you just can't argue with them because they bring up suspect fights in the past ....it gives the sport zero credibility

for example...i remember countless conversations with people who were convinced that various Tyson fights were fixed, just cos the opponents gave up or came to lose or whatever...try reasoning with this kinda shit

an archetypal collective action problem. The most beneficial choice on a card by card basis is ruinous for the sport.

Thus Far, the Post-Fight Fallout is Reminiscent of Holyfield-Lewis I, in REED's Opinion...In Hindsight, the Controversy from that Fight Actually Garnered SYMPATHY for Lennox & Made him More Popular (& Therefore ACCEPTED by American Audiences) than Ever...

Granted, Pacquiao's ALREADY Immensely Popular in America & Doesn't Need Us to Feel Sorry for him, but the Level of COVERAGE the Decision is Getting Certainly CANNOT Hurt Boxing...Overnight, the Name "Tim Bradley" is NOW in the Mainstream Stratosphere...It Remains to Be Scene just HOW All of this will Shake Out, but REED CAN'T Think of a Downside to Be THE LEAD Story on Practically EVERY Major Sports Outlet...

Terrible fight card. (Fuck you too, Arce!)

Terrible decision in the main event.

And the worst part is now we'll have to watch a rematch of a fight that wasn't even close the first time around.

    Fuck boxing!

The Arce Fight was on the Verge of Being a Fan Friendly Scrap...Bailey vs. Jones was a Come from Behind, UPSET KO & Pac-Bradley was a SPIRITED, if 1-Sided Battle...

In Terms of ACTION, it Certainly Wasn't a Bad Card...

Which made it even worse when Arce quit in the second round. I know he received a low blow and a cheap shot but damn. He didn't even ATTEMPT to get up. I judge fights on what actually happened in them, not what they had the potential to be.

Mayweather-Ortiz looked like it was going to be a good scrap to and then it ended over Ortiz acting a fool then getting KOd on a cheapshot. Shitty fight.

i work with 50 people who never talk about boxing, and this morning it literally was being talked about by everyone (in comparison mayweather-cotto maybe 5 people there max watched)

the rematch will sell big time imo

Well they say there is no such thing as bad publicity, I think boxing may be the exception to the rule. Boxing cannot win. We need our good fighters to get good decisions. We cannot have average plodders getting the decisions. It makes boxing look like an unregulated mess, and disguises the fact that it is in fact riddled with feudal factions all of them out to fuck each other over in some way shape or form. I can't see the positives in it. Boxing fans get fucked, and boxings detractors get more ammunition. In the meantime, one of our more talented practitioners just lost a fight to a guy who didn't want, it seems, to fight Amir Khan, and a guy who didn't fight Pacquiao will now, probably, fight Bradley.

I can see your point. Motion creates emotion, but right now, I feel pretty indifferent right now about boxing. I can't trust anyone. Bring back Don King.

I'm not sure what to think. Sure there is the argument that any publicity is good publicity, but this makes boxing look like a joke.

    exactly

as long as it is good for a tiny minority of the sport's participants, they will continue to engage in it

This is not a positive for boxing... it may be a positive for the wallets of Bob Arum, Tim Bradley and Manny Pacquaio, but to say that this is a good thing for the sport is absurd. It's not good at all.

Michael Wilbon of ESPN (who always claims to be a big boxing fan but knows very little about the sport)

"This isn't even in the top 500 bad decisions in boxing." :notallthere:

He basically said this is just normal for boxing, then of course had to tell a story about himself and how mad he was in RJJ got gypped in the Olympics, and told people to shut up and stop complaining. I'm pretty sure he didn't even watch the fight that he's on national TV talking about. :shit:

You know what irks me about Wilbon. He always calls himself a huge boxing fan and talks on and on about all the boxing matches he's covered over the years but he's just as bad as the guy at the water cooler on Monday morning. Knows next to NOTHING about the sport. Ties every single boxing story to Mike Tyson. "I remember when Tyson did this and that." Here's a sample of his boxing expertise. Now I'm not saying I disagree with him about Floyd but it's obvious he knows jack shit about the sport yet constantly hypes himself as some sort of insider and expert:

Actually, he Received a Nutshot, Kidney Shot AND a Blow to the Ear/Neck Area...Once the Nutshot Landed, Arce was Totally UNprepared to Take Anymore Blows, yet Got Hit 2 MORE Times Anyways...

Arce's Never Been the Quitting Type from REED's Recollection, so he Gives the Ol' Man a Pass on this 1...

I think that was legit, after the lowblow, he got basically cheapshotted FLUSH on the ear, it seems like it really did damage his ear. Arce didn't quit, he got cheapshotted.

I give him a pass because he has been a warrior in the past but like I said, he never even attempted to get up, He just kept saying if he gets up and walks he is going to fall. Disappointing because it looked like it was going to be a good fight.

I have no doubt he had a ruptured eardrum

His description of the symptoms was dead on and I doubt Arce works part-time as an Otolayrngologist

NO ONE Knows, but it is like having money in the bank. Arce has deposited enough money over the years and he withdrew some funds. It isn't like he hasn't gotten the shit kicked out of him before and lost brutally. I think that dirty rican fouled and injured him. I will give Arce the benefit of the doubt.

Im so sick of these assholes that never watch boxing talk about it

On espn radio today I hear them saying how "everyone knows boxing is dirty already...this happens all the time" lol when asked this guy couldn't really provide another recent case..lol

You know what else I'm sick of ? "this is a black eye for boxing" :wack:

I just wanna say shut the fuck up with that...

Everything is a "black eye for boxing" people have said that so much I'm just tired of it...

Most people saying it don't watch boxing

    Boxing is fine

Bitches that watch one fight a year or only paquaio fights maybe think differently but watch some local fights, some amateurs and boxing is doing great!
