First, I'm not posting this as a Pac fan because I'm a fan of whoever is exciting to watch, so there is a disclaimer... But really, this is the shit we get for a major professional boxing match? Absolutely no accountability to judges, promoters, the commission or the boxers. I'd be willing to bet it is harder to find an honest person in boxing than it is in the US House of Representatives. Fuck boxing and all the assholes that are making a cash grab while the sport is in it's death throes. There are other major sports that can have my attention. Boxing doesn't deserve it. Back to TAAA.
Cry me a river. Every sport has corruption. Games are decided in the NFL, NBA, soccer and the NHL by bad officiating. Gift decisions are handed out in MMA. The decision was terrible and there will be more terrible decisions in the future. If you didn't stop watching after Whittaker-Chavez, Leonard-Hearns 2, Cassamayor-Santa Cruz or Holyfield-Lewis then you will be back.
all these fights are not on the same level at all i think the powers to be are pushing the boundaries a little with this fight :scratcher:
Agreed, none of those fights were as 1 sided as this one, plus at least Whitaker and Hearns got draws, not a loss after winning 10 rounds. This is a new benchmark in robberies.
This correct. Whiney cunts. If you suffered through Pernell Whitaker, Robert oDuran and John Ruiz's career. You will be back. There should be a CZAR OF BOXING THOUGH THAT CAN OVERTurn decisions like this. In fact, I don't doubt this one will be overturned.
I can't recall a fight in which the bigger puncher and the guy coming forward was robbed. Lots of so called roberries, like WILLIAMS/Lara, were not totally unjustifiable to me. I have been to many live fights and it is hard to see sometimes and people have a tendency to give the guy coming forward more credit. In this case, I just don't see a precedent here. Manny was coming forward, landing cleaner and harder shots. Bradly rarely landed at all. Btw, Brain Kenny, the faggot who scored Mosely/Oscar 2, for Shane, scored it for Bradley.
Yeah, I was reading in another thread that Pac would do nothing and then work the last minute which is true. However, Bradley also did nothing and then got rolled for a minute can't see how that works against Pacman. This was one is truly baffling. I can't see a reasoned argument how this was even close.
This was a robbery but i think it was bad judging more so that corruption. There is no logic in robbing Manny Pacquiao. Bradley can't draw a dime. Lewis-Holyfield was a corrupt decision. Don King paying off the judges to keep the heavyweaight champion.
I understand BMB's point. I mean, I used to watch every FNF on ESPN plus Shobox, every HBO fight. Right now? I only watch like 5 fights per year live. The interest isn't there anymore because of two reasons: corrupted bullshit decisions and the inability of promoters to give us fans the fights that we want. The sport might not be dying, but the hard-core fan base might be.
I still watch every fight that comes on TV here, and quite a few online. If bad decisions were going to sour me I would have bailed years ago. You guys new? ::
I think it's the fact that the marquee guy was robbed this time that's thrown everybody for 6. we thought we had a working model of reality and that was comforting
To be honest that makes it more shocking sure, someone like Manny or indeed Floyd being robbed, it's so unexpected, but that's not it for me. Also a BIG fight, we're used to more low key fights being utter robberies recently, like Rios vs Abril etc. For me it's that I think Bradley won no more than 2 rounds, and I can't think of any other fight in history where they gave such a 1 sided fight to the loser, not a single one. Even Rios was more competitive with Abril, landed more, and arguably won more than 2 rounds.
All you guys whining about not watching boxing ever again...good riddance. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Did you see Edwin Rodriguez vs Will Rosinsky last year? Not sure if Rosinsky really lost a single round and all three judges had it for Rodriguez 100-90.
I am far more entertained by 2 guys boxing than any other form of entertainment. Who wins and loses is almost an afterthought to me. The action leading up to it has me hooked completely. That said i still would like for guys who win a fight be awarded with an official win.
There have been many bad decisions, I don't recall any that EVERY fan of boxing is in complete agreement about though. There is always someone who makes a case for the guy who got the bogus decision, I have not found one person who thought Bradley won, or that the fight was even close. Manny completely dominated this fight, I can't see how anyone would see it any other way.
The rematch will sell because Manny Pacquiao is a mega superstar. Bradley without Manny would struggle to sell out a ballroom. Bradely's pep rally had about 15 people. If Manny did that in Manilla there would be too many people to count.
To be honest no I haven't seen it, is that the common opinion of the fight? Was it obvious corruption?
I found a quote where 'most thought a draw or close decision for Rodriguez'. Punch stats don't back up my impression of the fight so just forget the example, haha.
I'm not whining, just stating facts. Prices for ppv have gone up while the quality has gone down. Networks like HBO/Showtime have vested interest in creating stars. Boxers are more likely to dodge fights that may result in a loss, especially if it means they can lose their undefeated record. Promoters and promotion companies look to make the most money instead of providing compelling fights. The two major stars in the sport are both assholes. On top of that, they won't fight each other. No accountability in the sport at any level from the governing bodies to the boxers themselves and everyone in between. So someone tell me the good parts.
[1] Inflation. Quality on ppv's is the same as it's been for a long time with the exception of no more Don King. We actually had two title fights and one supreme fighter in Rigondeaux on this undercard. That's solid. [2] Gee, you think? [3] Definitely a new phenomena. Fighters have always liked losing. Managers have always tried to get their fighters losses. [4] Gee, you think they try to make the most money? Compelling fights are made just as they always have been or not. [5] Nothing new here. [6] huh? [7] Internet to find other big fans, dvds are easy to exchange, easy to watch almost any fight in the world live or shortly thereafter. Ward/Dawson.
No, its not my last post. The sport is in serious decline. Anyone who thinks different is lying to themselves. Someone tell my the high points, the good stuff in boxing aside from the ability to trade dvds easier and the internet.
Everyone is saying its a crying post...its not. Just because your love for boxing hasn't waned, doesn't mean that all the shit I outlined isn't choking the life out of the sport. Some fanboys can't even see it. Look at Sly's post, who are the up and comers? Who is taking the mantle from all the guys that are leaving or have left recently? Are more people watching boxing now or 10 years ago? What about 10 years before that? Does boxing have a good infrastructure? Are the promoters making decisions for the betterment of the sport or to fill their pockets? Why is it that a bad decision is what makes headlines and has people talking instead of the sport itself? If Pac would've won the story would be buried.
The same was said when Ali left...when Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran were no longer relevant...the same was said when Tyson was in decline.
