Yep, it was actually quite impressive watching the clearly smaller guy just outgut and beat the bigger stronger opponent basically on balls and toughness.

 

Abraham might be an average fighter...but he went ROUNDS...and ROUNDS with a broken jaw...with Miranda..who could really really BANG...

I think what really beat Ortiz...was Lopez BRAVADO....it happen 2 or 3 times in the fight..Lopez would tell Ortiz..."COME ON LET's FIGHT, PUTO....!!!..and every time Ortiz would back up ad get slap around.....

 

if his jaw was really broke in round one then i have less disdain for him. i just dont believe that.

 

No he corrected himself, and admitted it was the beginning of the most recent round.

 

I think his jaw was broken a few rounds before...I forget which round but between one of the rounds Garcia asks Ortiz if he's okay, Ortiz leans in and whispers to Garcia...Garcia then whispers back to him.

Plus, if you saw the shot in the dressing room...based on the amount of blood in his mouth (and what he spit out) his jaw looks to be really broken.

 

i guess ortiz's defense was his undoing more so than his toughness

Surprisingly excellent card tonight, both fights very enjoyable and action packed.

 

I hope we get to see Cotto school that ginger testicle.

 

Seemed like he wanted to quit sooner than he did.

 

Ortiz is a headcase like Andrew Golota...it's difficult to take anything he says seriously.

Rewatch between rounds...you'll see what I'm talking about. I assumed it was a hand issue, but it could have been his jaw.

Who knows...like I said before the fight...Ortiz is a headcase.

 

I agree who knows, but knowing Ortiz, can you really imagine Ortiz fighting for more than a round or so with a broken jaw? I can't.

They showed a replay of a big hand left that landed smack on the jaw and seemed to dislodge it and make Ortiz look uncomfortable, and it was from the most recent round, I reckon he got his jaw broken in the round just before he quit.

 

Maybe he is, but he was still spitting thick blood in the dressing room so the broken jaw is true. They should have rushed him to an ambulance.

 

He had only 3 more rounds to go......and he could have lose 2 of those rounds and still won in the cards....but the Canelo fight was out regardless....so that is probably another reason he quit.

Why take the punishment if he isn't eating the cookie...
