We have less than 32 hours to come up with a scoring rule that will not come down to player's being tied for points and so nobody complains about the scoring rules.

 

In all cases, whiskey is ahead of barneyboy. 44-38 in total points accumulated by both in the group stage and q/final. whiskey also predicted 4 scores correctly in the group stage compared to barneyboy who predicted 0 correct scores.

How about this.

If you think the match will be over after 90 minutes, you state this as normal. You predict whether Germany or Italy will win + a score + your scorers. Say if you posted 2-1 Italy, but it finished 3-2, you will still earn a point for predicting Italy to win and if you correctly predict the score/result/time you get a maximum 5 points + bonus points for any goal scorers you correctly predict to score. So same rules apply here.

Maybe when you note your scorers you could pick say Klose to score and in brackets you put 1st to score. So if Klose scores you still get 1 point for him scoring and if you do pick him to score 1st you get 1 bonus point. Same applies for the last scorer of the game. This could be an option.

If you predict a match to be over after extra-time, you will get a point for predicting the match finishes after extra-time + a point for which team will win. To add to this (in case both guys have gone for the same), you could put Italy win after extra-time by scoring 1 goal or Germany to win after extra-time by scoring 2 goals. You can add a goal scorer or goal scorers too for 1 bonus point each. For each correct choice you make you get 1 point. This could be something to look at.

If you think a match goes to penalties, you simply state whether you think Italy will win on pens, or Germany will win on pens. You will get 1 point for predicting a penalty shoot-out + 1 point for correctly predicting a team to win.

None of the first last nonsense.

I'm not exactly shocked it went to penalties but i'm quite surprised it was a scoreless match.

If Italy win (and they should), the final will be Slice vs whiskey as they both picked Italy to win tonight.

 

I'd rather germany win and me be out of the prediction contest :(

 

It would have been me vs you in the semi final and Slice vs puerto rock, but you would have beat me tonight and Slice would have beaten rock, so it's worke out and you face Slice in the final.

 

The final seems a bit of a toss up to me even though Italy has looked in superior form over the last couple of games.

Tell you what Slice, to make things interesting i'll let you pick any side you want and i'll take the opposite.

I was going to make the exact same prediction if you took Spain actually. ::

So i'll go with 1-0 Spain, Iniesta 90 minutes.

He's due for one.

I've picked Iniesta in every single Spain match so far and he hasn't scored. It would be a killer if your prediction came through in the final ::

 

I've picked him a fair bit of times as well. I just look it as a 1-0 game either way. Not only is Iniesta due, but i think a goal at this point against Italy is more likely to come from a mid fielder than somebody up front.

I think the Spanish have to be pretty damn tired. Most of the players have had long club seasons and they just had to go 120 minutes against Portugal. They'll need the tika taka to preserve energy.
