Also would have liked to hear what he'd have to say about Berto falling out due to the failed drug test.

Ortiz simply does not have the heart to be a world class fighter. Period. End of story.

He can rematch Lopez. But if Lopez takes his best shots again, and keeps hitting him back, Victoria will fold and quit...........again.

Is there any difference between the decision Ortiz made vs MMA guys that tap out? Are they bitches too?

It's basically like being given a choice of a broken limb or not. Some guys won't tap, like Big Nog. Then you're out for a over a year and having a major surgery to repair your destroyed arm. Those type of injuries can end a guys career. How many boxers careers were ended from a broken jaw?

What I take from this is it's ok for MMA guys to quit but not boxers. You're saying it's ok for MMA guys to look out for their longterm health whereas it's not ok for boxers.

On the one hand you're saying it's okay to quit before you suffer a broken bone but for boxers it's not okay after you've suffered one.

Fighters have fought with broken hands before and it's had long-term effects on their careers...they rebrake their hands in every fight or simply fight through the pain.

Thus, I can only take from this you're expecting boxers to have more courage than MMA guys. I've got no problem with that, but I'm sure there are MMA junkies who will take issue with your position.

I know...I don't get it. The uncertainty around the guy makes good drama. I'd rather watch and wait for him to unravel than see Paulie Malignaggi or Devon Alexander bop around the ring and throw punches that wouldn't hurt a third grade school girl.

1)Broken Jaws aren't necessarily fight ending. An arm snapped at the elbow & unconsciousness both are.
    2) Broken jaws heal back fine 99/100. An arm snapped backwards at the elbow might or it might not. At best it would require a longer recovery time.
    3) rd and most important....a submission hold presents a reflexive split second choice under very extreme conditions. Quitting on your stool is a deliberate, conscious choice.

    1. Boxers have fought with one arm before....separated shoulders (not Vitali of course), broken hands. yes? We just saw Eddie Chambers go 12 rounds with basically one arm. Glen Johnson made it 12 rounds against Bute with two injured biceps (at least one was completely torn).

If anything, MMA fighters have more options seeing they can use the other arm, ow kicks...they have more options whereas a boxer can only (legally) use his hands. A broken hand or injured arm immediately takes away 50% of a boxers offense.

    2. While a broken jaw will heal, it's still the primary point of impact and main target. Again, MMA guys kick legs or simply lay on each other and wrestle on the ground. there's more opportunity to hide an injury.

    3. you've basically admitted that MMA guys quit on instinct. It's within their nature to give up. :TLC:

But come on - a fractured bone in your hand or a shoulder injury is not the same as your arm snapped the wrong way at the elbow.

Or a broken jaw when you're getting punched in the face 15 to 20 times per round.

The point being, both hurts your ability to dish out punishment and defend yourself.

And again...you can still take a guy down.

I wouldn't even give Ortiz shit if he didn't have a history of being a quitter but he does. MMA is a completely different sport. You can't stop, ever. There is no taking a knee there are no counts. You fight until one guy can't anymore. Apples and oranges.

They fight longer rounds but not as many. Those guys fight at most 15 minutes whereas boxers can fight for 36 minutes.

I've seen my share of MMA fights and they all aren't knockdown drag out fights. Most are guys walking around the ring looking at each other or laying on the ground trying to catch a rest.

I feel the same way you feel about Ortiz quitting...he has a history of it. "HOWEVER" in this situation I can see why he chose to get out...he had a legitimate reason.

It's no one's fault but his own that he's had a history where guys aren't willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's cried wolf one (or two) many times.

I totally agree, and like I said if it wasn't for his history I wouldn't fault him at all.

How about how Johnny Bratton, Arthur Abraham, Tommy Morrison? Why do you keep making it solely about Ali? Why do you keep dismissing Ortiz's history as part of this? It's an integral part.

Your article is proof of nothing from a fat shill.

you only posted some assumptions based on your own feeling and try to pass it off as fact. You statistic on broken jaws vs arm snapped backward is simply ridiculous, I'd like to know on what you based it. Plus, most boxers who had their jaw broken needed quite a layoff on top of a surgery to heal their injury. lPersonaly, if I'M in a fight, I'd far rather have one of my arm broken than have a broken jaw

there's degree of broken bones. I've broke my arm 2 times, onceI almost didn,t feel it, and would have continued no problem if I was in a boxing match. The second time could I barely move cause the pain was so unbearable.

Sure Ortiz is a quitter, and doesn't have the heart of a true warrior, but always make me laugh that most coach potatoes here that don't even have the willpower to keep themselves in even a decent physical conditions, are the first to criticize

Notice it's the same guys who hyped Ortiz for the sole reason that he fought Mayweather. They are backed into a corner now, they have to defend him to the bitter end.
