He probably wins a round or two but loses a wide decision. Bradley is pretty tough & elusive I think he'd see the bell
I don't think Pryor would fuck around like Manny did. Let's be honest, Bradley would NOT have lasted the distance with the Pac of 3 years ago. I think Aaron could stop him late.
I think "The Hawk" gets him out of there by around the 9th with Bradley gamely trying his best to hang in there
Aaron all the way, but Bradley nails him and drops him before being stopped as Aaron could be so off-balance at times when he recklessly charged in with his chin straight up in the air.
Bradley's hard to hit and negative when he needs to be. I really think the odds are against Pryor forcing a stoppage. Bradley would slow the pace, use the ring, and pretty much settle for hearing the bell.
He did that well against Pacquiao, but a big part of the reason he succeeded at it was because Pac allowed him to.
I don't know that Pac decided to barely land 3 full fledged power shots in 36 minutes. I hear what you're saying - Pac was allot less committed to chasing Bradley down than Pryor would be - but it's still a hard task. Not ruling it out, but my money would be on Pryor UD 15.
It's one thing to do that against an aging guy throwing infrequently... It's another thing to do it against a guy who throws unheard-of combinations at a life-threatening pace from every angle imaginable and with considerable pop. Personally, I think Aaron Pryor is a far more formidable fighter than the 140+ Manny Pacquiao. I would pick him over Pacquiao without any hesitation
^^^^^^ I concur. I'd especially pick Pryor over THIS Manny. 09 Manny vs Pryor would be a more dangerous fight for Aaron. Either way, I just think Pryor overwhelms Timmy.
I think the 08-09 version of Pacquiao could beat Pryor. As for Bradley vs Pryor, Timmy is just outgunned. He'd try HARD and he'd fight back at every turn. But he would be taking some serious shots that eventually would cave him in. Pryor TKO 10
Pryor was a beast I've heard all of the various arguments to downplay him (it's become especially popular over the last 10 years), but I remain unconvinced. He was an astonishing fighter in many respects, and one of the most unique I have seen.
I agree, Pryor was a brilliant fighter himself, I just think Pacquiao is not only better, but basically built to beat pressure fighters. Pacquiao can be outboxed and countered, but I just can't see him being beaten by any come forward fighter upto 140 apart from Duran. BTW has it really become popular to downplay him? He seems to be generally very highly regarded actually, especially considering his resumé is nowhere near as deep as most greats.
I have heard people pick guys like Cotto and Tszyu to beat him, stating "he never beat anybody"... those guys did? I think you underestimate Pryor's ability to change gears and box... One of the things that never seems to get any play about the classic Arguello fight is that in the middle rounds, Pryor was dancing around the ring like he was Ray Leonard, he was shockingly effective doing that. I think he is just flatly a better Junior Welterweight than Pacquaio.
For the record, me picking Bradley to survive to the bell isnt borne of any skepticism about Pryor. I'd pick Pryor over both Pac & Floyd at 140, he was a demon.
You'd pick him too Hut? Do you not agree with me that Pacquiao is just kind of built to demolish pressure fighters that come towards him? In that respect he's kind of like Mosley on steroids (). I actually think Pryor would fare much better against Floyd at 140. Statistically, I think Floyd has lost more rounds to pressure fighters than anyone else, he'd just been too good for the pressure fighters he's fought so far. But Pacuwao's combination of handspeed, footspeed, power, accuracy, angles, willingness to throw etc etc is very hard for any pressure fighter to deal with.
I think it's foolhardy to categorize Pryor as a "pressure fighter" ... I think he defies categorization, frankly I also think he is essentially 5 times better than the best guys Pac has fought at 140 and higher
true. But like Mosley he usually does it, in part, by sitting down on some weighty shots & slowing the guy down. And while I know it's retarded to imagine a fighter is literally unhurtable I actually think Pryor might have been.:: That guy was some freaky poly-blend of titanium, man and mental illness. Also Pryor had strings enough to his bow that if the pressure thing really wasn't working he would get up on his toes and encourage Pac to lead. I just envision him finding a way to come out on top, similar to the way Morales did, with a mix of boxing, brawlng and sheer desire. ATG fight:bears:
^^ Right. Pryor's boxing skill was amazing. It's not the first image any of us have of him in our minds eye but it was there to fall back on. Didn't he outbox Hearns in the amateurs for instance?
No question in my mind that Pryor beats Pac as well. Arguello was one of the best in history at destroying pressure fighters, Pryor was still too much for him.
I don't think the Arguello comparison is a good one. Dramatically different fighters. Not only was Arguello very different stylistically to Pacquiao, more patient, and a great classic boxer with an awesome jab and right hand, but wasn't Pryor his first fight 140? He didn't prove to be effective at all at 140+, he didn't beat anyone there. cdogg and Hut - Even if Pryor wasn't a classic pressure fighter he WAS very aggressive. Maybe I haven't seen enough Pryor fights, but I've never seen him fight a patient boxing match, even to the extent Morales did in his win over Pacquiao.
Patience/discipline wasn't really in his repertoire, admittedly :: But he could use the ring, make a guy come to him, change the angles, keep a guy turning & still fight very effectively. One pernickity point about the Morales fight - I always think the way he won that gets misrepresented a bit (not saying by you, necessarily). He used his legs, made Pac come forward and in so doing gained some measure of control over and limit on when he would engage. But really he won the fight by brawling in exchanges, pretty wildly. He used his legs intelligently to choose/limit when he would brawl, but he basically won it by brawling. Pryor did that masterfully in the mid stages of the Arguello fight & as much as I love Morales, I think Pryor could do it even better.
He certainly did... He outboxed him and outslugged him... Amazingly, there is footage of their AM fight, crystal clear, fine quality
You didn't have to have power to drop Pryor, he was so off-balance at times running in, he ran right into them and down he went. The Asian fighter that put Pryor down didn't have any power at all.
