Apparently they have a site (Thomas and Mack Center in Vegas)... apparently tickets are going on sale soon. Apparently there's a four city press tour coming up.

I'm looking forward to it. :scared2:

Fight won't happen. It's just meant to fool us that he really wants to fight him. Junior will do what Senior should have done . Pull out.

Wow, gotta admit I'm a little surprised. Arum is playing billy big bollocks for once.

Is Arum confident enough in Chavez Jr that he thinks he's capable of winning, or does he feel he's simply popular enough that a loss won't really change much, business wise?

Cool...can't wait for this fight. Two guys that I can't stand....one because he has been protected and the other one because he is hyped up to be some awesome fighter.

In this one I'm hoping the young protected fighter beat the hell of the overated fighter...

I fail to see how Chavez Jr. is any worse than the last two Bums Martinez looked shitty against

To be honest I think he's probably a bit better than Baker and Macklin. I used to think he was a proper scrub, but he seems to have improved a fair bit since joining Roachenhausen.

He's still not very good by any means at top level, but he's obviously come quite a long way since arguably losing to Matt Vanda.

Should be a fun, high contact fight. I'm leaning towards Chavez right now.

Agreed. I would have picked Martinez if this fight happend a year ago without a second though. Martinez hasn't looked great against his last couple opponents and Chavez seems to get better every time. I'll take his youth and size over Martinez.

Surprised with the Chavez picks. I know Martinez looked a bit crap Versus Baker and Macklin but damn, he's surely still a clear cut above the likes of Chavez.

I see it the same way. I'll watch some tapes before making an actual prediction, but I'm thinking Chavez right now.

I don't want it to come across as a brash Chavez pick. I'm not confident or anything.

    Yeah, but who really IS?

Floyd, Pac, Marquez... and then, who?

Are there 5 better middleweights than him? I don't think there are

Martinez is the single most overrated fighter I have ever seen. His whole career is a series of awkward victories over 2nd-rate champs and 3rd contenders with one fluky, one-in-a-million wild KO shot thrown in

He drew with Cintron. Even though he actually KO'd Kermit in that fight he still let it be that close.

martinez will give chavez jr. a proper hiding, lads. watch and see. he is getting old but i expect him to be up for this bout. chavez jr.'s size may allow him to last but he will get hurt with big shots many times in the bout. his defense is shite

it wasnt close, it was a wide decision victory at worst, if you ignore the knockout.

I don't ignore it at all. Kermit was KO'd from perhaps the strangest shot ever thrown.

im not claiming you ignore it. just saying that if one chooses to ignore the KO it was still not a close fight it was a wide decision for martinez.

I agree I don't think there's 5 better middleweights. Martinez and probably Golovkin and Pirog, and that's it.

So from that alone, I guess it's undeniable he's "world class" in this era at least.

Not sure how overrated he is, perhaps a little, I think the main thing is he seems to have lost a step.

Can you imagine Chavez beating the Martinez that beat Pavlik and Paul?

I agree. WAlso, what made Martinez look average in those fights was when Baker and Macklin stayed behind high guard and refused to lead, as Martinez lives from countering. Against Chavez he should have more opportunities for that.

Also, when the fights were even and Martinez needed to step it up, he was able to do just that and soundly defeat, in the end even outclass, both these guys. It seems that he fights to the level of his opponent but if he is pushed, he'll find another gear. That should be enough against Chavez too

Yep, that's pretty accurate. Despite looking average in parts, let's not forget that by the end of the fights he outclassed and stopped both of them. Plus yeah I agree, Chavez matches up worse style wise. Chavez better hope his chin is legit, as he'll be eating a lot of flush left hands.

Most people have him top 3 p4p, which i really find crazy. He's barely a level above the Williams/Margarito/Cintron level, I dont think anything's changed since then.

Honestly I think he's quite a bit better than those 3, I thought he won the Paul fights and Cintron fights clearly.

Who do you have above Martinez P4P? I still think he is top 5.
