Khan's problem is defense as much as chin. He hangs his chin out like it's on a washing line sometimes. Fighters with 'great chins' almost never do that

Agreed, his chin is obviously crap, but it's only exacerbated by the fact that he has almost no defense. He is so easy to hit clean.

Even guys like Hagler with amazing chins weren't exactly easy to hit clean.

    Augie Sanchez.

His offense was actually pretty good, he was giving Hamed the business, but he had a horrendous chin. He still wouldn't have been very good, but he could have gone a lot further than he did if not for his zero punch resistance.

Good call on Augie. Augie had that same chin Khan does. He got stopped by far harder hitters, mind, like Hamed and, well, Hamed.

Exactly. And who really gives a shit if he outboxed him 2 rounds anyway?

Terry Norris "outclassed" Julian Jackson for 1 round. The end result is all that matters.

Just like Jackson would have clocked Norris in a rematch, so too will Garcia clock Con in a rematch.

    Nah.

Mercer, tua, Mccall and Chuvalo were all ridiculously easy to hit.

    Khan has a bad chin.

Easy to hit high on the head, or sometimes with their chin as it was tucked lowish into their chest. Enormous difference. Not with blind shots with their chin in the air.

Khan is fucking awful. Another harbinger of the decline of western civilization. Craftless.

I hear you, but Mercer did get caught with some ridiculous, wide-open shots by Tommy Morrison (who, if nothing else, was a real hard hitter and had handspeed to go with it) ... big uppercuts to left the head up and full-throttle left hooks following up... he never went anywhere.

I agree Khan's complete shit level of technical know-how is part of his problem, he is in a bad position to get hit quite often... but I think he's got real shaky punch resistance in addition to what you are saying

    Yep.

He'd still get KO'd if he had good defense, the difference is it would probably take someone better than Prescott and Garcia to do it.

And the thing with Khan is he's too devoid of skill and ring IQ to improve his defense. Boxbot will always be this easy to hit.

People are going on about Khan needing to completely change his style and approach to fights when he comes back in order to protect his flaws and concentrate on his strengths, but he will be vulnerable still against good technical boxers with some pop.

Definitely, the two interact..... Hamed for instance used to get caught on a washing line, but he'd take it relatively well (balance aside). Or even Ali for that matter. Khan's downright chinny, I just wanted to take the opportunity to slag him off technically too:lol:

Khan's flailing EA Fight Night animation knockdown is awesome, but I want to see a gif of the baby deer jig.

He's too fucking stupid to learn. I'd be surprised if Roach hadnt spend countless hours teaching him how to punch behind his shoulder, but it'd be like teaching Peter Schiff macroeconomics or a gerbil how to moonwalk

I actually find it amazing that anyone thinks it would even be possible at this stage, or blames roach for not teaching him well enough

Khan is simply too stupid, it's as simple as that. He'll never become any more skilled or clever in the ring than he is now. He is a boxbot.

Khan will never improve. He's nearly 26, and has been the same fighter all his life. If Roach can't change him, its doubtful anyone else can.

He'd have to develop Ricardo Lopez type technical skills to protect that paper chin. And that's not gonna happen.

Khan's so frustrating to work with, that I wouldn't be surprised if he's advancing Freddie's Parkinsons.

Hamed had a chin. He was physically way ahead of Khan. Khan and Hamed must be the first time in history that two fighters have ever been deemed comparably similar simply because they were both of the same religion.

Hamed was actually quite strong, very good legs, physically robust.

Hamed had more talent in one of his ears, than 3 Amir Khan's.

Hamed had old-school skills from Brendan Ingle and was always surrounded by good fighters like Herol Graham and, uh, Johnny Nelson.

Hamed didn't have many skills to speak of. But he had excellent reflexes (something trash-Con lacks), very fast hands, and of course, the freakish power.

Hamed didn't train nearly as hard as Khan, yet he was still the best featherweight of the 90's.

Khan tries, and he still fuckin sucks.

I am happy to indulge such slagging off

Yeah, hamed used to get knocked down because his balance was horrendous, but he was pretty tough. I don;t recall him ever being really badly hurt

I've always thought Hamed had good whiskers. He's never been close to being stopped, even in the Kelley fight. I miss Naz, he were awesome.
