I'm kind of out of the loop on boxers these days and don't know either of these guys. Does this project to be a good fight and is there any word on the undercard? Just wondering if I should even bother to watch it.

Yes. Broner is possibly a star in the making, and Escobedo, though not himself a likely future star, is in his prime, is physically big, knows how to fight, and is the best guy Broner will have yet faced (in the least he is among the best guys Broner has faced). Escobedo has heart too.

If U WEREN'T Such a Doom & Gloomer, U'd ALREADY Know that this is Actually an INTRIGUING Fight btwn 2 Young Up & Coming Guys...Not as IMPORTANT, yet Every Bit as INTRIGUING as Khan vs Garcia was, Last Weekend...

Escobedo's a 2004 U.S. Olympian and has had Damn Near 30 Bouts...Sure, he's LOST 3 of those Bouts, but Escobedo's NEVER Been Stopped & NEVER Been Dominated Either, from REED's Recollection...3 COMPETITIVE Losses...

Broner's on the Short List of POTENTIAL Superstars of the Post-Pacquiao, Post-Mayweather Era of Boxing...Time will Tell...Excluding the Ponce Fight (Which is OVERBLOWN as Some Sort of Clear Cut LOSS that Broner Should Have on his Record), Dude has DOMINATED Every 1 of his HBO Opponents...If he DOMINATES Escobedo as Well, Boxing Fans SHOULD Be Impressed...

To Date, Broner's Foes have Been Accused of Being HANDPICKED Bums &/or UNDERSIZED....Escobedo's NEITHER...

This is a showcase for the hippity, hopper. Escobedo sucks. He lost to Michael Katsidis, the clubfighting bum. Typical HBO fight. If this is a competitive fight, it says more about Broner's upside, every round it goes, the hype should be lessened.

He lost virtually every round to Kat too.

I don;t consider it doom and gloom, just realism. Not so much lb for lb not knowing who these guys are, but the aspect of the sport being shittier than before. It is shittier than before. Flat out shittier.

After Broner wins this fight, I'd like for him to fight the winner of Mitchell-Burns at 135. He'd be favored of either one of those guys, but at least they're a step up from Escobedo.

I think Broner should easily beat Escobedo.

If Broner is half as talented as his hype, he should beat EVERYONE from 130-135 easily. Lightweight and junior lightweight is as devoid of talent now as it's ever been.

All the talent is at 140.

For the record, Broner will never be Floyd. Floyd is a once in a generation talent. I'm almost positive he'll be better than trash-Con though.

escobedo is not quick or skilled but he seems fairly durable so if broner blows him out in a few rounds i'll be impressed.

Yeah, he went the distance with Guerrero.

So if Broner stops him it will be impressive.

And I think he will. Speed kills. Broner has the type of handspeed that Kat, and Guerrero lack.

escobedo looked horrible against some goofy fucker with a red checkerboard shaved into his head until he caught the kid.

Agree. He's durable and he's experienced enough to know how to survive.

I will also be impressed if Broner gets him out of there

Thanks for that. REED is being overly protective of the sport he loves. I didn't say one negative thing in that post and he calls me doomy gloomy. Uncalled for if you ask me.

REED, not sure why you get the idea Escobedo only had competitive losses.

He lost almost every round to both Katsidis and Guerrero, and honestly looked pretty crap in both fights, at least crap at this level. I don't see a guy who clearly lost to Katsidis providing a compelling matchup to be honest.

I expect Broner to beat him fairly easily. It'll still be impressive if he takes him out though, as obviously neither Katsidis or Guerrero could.

Not that surprising, he looks fucking big at super feather, more like a good sized lightweight.

Hmm, fights probably the toughest guy he's fought in his career. Comes in 3lbs heavy. What an asshole.

I hope Escobedo whoops him now.

shit matchup, HBO sure makes a good job as a promoter to line up bums for Broner to make him look like a killer. Sad thing for the sport that it's supposed to be the premium network for boxing though.

well, Escobedo has fought at 135. he fought Guerrero and Katsidis at 135.

Still, the contracted weight is what it is.

That was one of my favorite Telefutura fights, certainly one ofthe best of the Top Rank/Golden Boy run-the-series-to-the-ground version.
