I've sparred with gloves and without gloves. I sparred with a National champ in kickboxing when I was 18 and even though he took it easy on me, he still split my lip and hammered me. Was I offended? No, because I chose to do it.

Another time, I sparred with the superheavyweight champion of Ontario, and he hit me with a left hook that made my nose bleed like a water faucet. Was I mad? No, we laughed because I chose to spar and he tagged me with a peach of a shot---also helped straighten out my nose from years of right hands in streetfights. ::

Some people are terrified of sparring because they might get dropped or just outclassed by someone better. They have probably never fought or sparred. It's not a big deal---shit happens, and sometimes you take a thumping.
