I dont even consider these batman movie reboots. Just different takes. Nolan's batman was different than Burton's batman. Joker & batman have been battling for Decades. Batman has been around for decades. We just need people to make different stories

Yeah that's what I meant. I'd like to see James Cameron, Peter Jackson or Sam Raimi tackle the Batman project.

So you want to see the dialogue reduced to a level of banality that would make even the worst comic books look like the work of Dickens?

  5. Good film. Better than Avengers? Nah.

Best of the three? Nah. But Good film.

  8. I guess it's all down to personal taste. I respect your view. In my opinion it doesn't even come close to Avengers.

Some people just automatically rate darker, more "mature" films higher than excitng fun filled special effects heavy films as a matter of reflex.

You may or may not be one of those.

Avengers may have had the fun, effects and the action, but the plot and execution were also very good, hence why it's so rewatchable. Acting was also pretty decent (Loki especially..but also Downey Jnr, Ruffalo, Hawkeye)

Dark Knight Rises had a good premise. Execution could have been better. Could hardly understand a word Bane was saying..although Bane WAS an excellent character. Nice twist at the end (wont spoil it). Good acting. It was just too slow for the most part. Bane was invincible for most of the film and then inexplicably became rather vulnerable at the end just to make Batman the hero. I thought that was strange.

Still good film, i liked it make no mistake, Avengers however was spectacular.

  9. :warning: I'LL be the decider of that, sonny...after I've watched it tomorrow night.

If you are a grown adult with a passionate preference one way or another for directors of superhero movies, you should probably take a step back and reevaluate your life. I haven't seen this movie yet, but I expect it to be better than the Avengers, which was a pretty mediocre film. I wouldn't be surprised if I hate it, though.

If you think what happened to bane was inexplicable, you completely misunderstood the whole point of batman going to bane's prison. I mean completely misunderstood. Which is probably why you enjoyed avengers better. You got to leave your brain at home

  12. Perhaps. Please enlighten me.

I understood much of the point (Batman's fear of death empowering him etc) but perhaps the great Anthony can let me know what i was missing.

agree with many here. i thought it was a bit overloaded, hathaway was unremarkable but not bad, bane was quite excellent but hard to understand, i was a bit disappointed with that because you didn't need to make him hard to understand to hang on his every word... he's fucking bane!! i'd hang on his every word regardless. loved the ending. move was quite good overall, not as good as #2 imo, and yes i think it was because of Ledger.

The point was that batman had no fear of death. He had no reason to live anymore. He was a recluse who didnt care, ever since rachael died. When you have no fear of death it takes away your most needed instict, survival. Once he realized that he had something to live for. That he wanted to save his city and his people he began to think differently. He began to have a fear of death because his death would cause the death of many. Even bane acknowledged Batman's lack of fear of dying. And in the end, batman still really couldnt hang with Bane, he got a lucky break. But he was definately more competative.

  15. Ok...so I didn't miss anything then. As mentioned in the post you quoted I got that Batman's fear of death empowered him.

Still it's not like Batman was suddenly injected with Super Soldier serum. I mean a psychological improvement doesn't suddenly allow a man to overturn what was previously a complete and utter mismatch. That's my only point.

But it's not a major point, to be fair, just an aside. I did enjoy the film.

But again, your point still is wrong, because batman didnt have super soldier serum. He was still getting his ass kicked with Bane, but he was just more competative. He had more drive. You can see it wasnt enough to match bane blow for blow, and his success was a result of a mechanical failure on bane's part.

So you are misrepresenting the movie in order to back your statements. Which is bullshit.

Yeah but his heart wasn't in it the first time they fought, he was more motivated the second time and also had an inkling that without the mask Bane suffers extreme pain. and also he had the motivation of KNOWING that the whole city was going to be exploded if he failed this time.

exactly. Batman learned alot about himself & bane in that prison.

  20. Hanz

It can actually. Ever see Tyson vs Douglas? 49-1 underdog?

  21. Not relevant. Douglas was only an underdog on paper. it wasn't yet PROVEN that Tyson could have mismatched him.

  22. Hanz

Well Batman wasn't exactly smaller than Bane. He was actually bigger. Hardy is shorter than Bale.

  23. I'm sure some of the actors than played Hobbits in LOTR are taller that some of the actors that played men in those films. Whether or not Hardy is shorter than Bane is irrelevant if the movie has Bane bigger.

One thing to take into consideration is that the first time Batman fights Bane he was basically out of action for 8 years prior. By the second time they met he just finished 5 months of rehabbing/preparing his body to make the jump, and was probably more ready physically as well as mentally.

    LMFAO!

Sly, you have officially lost your goddamn mind.

    The Avengers SUCKED!

Batman & Batman Returns (the Burton movies) were better than that piece of shit film.

None of those Ironman/Hulk/Cpt. America movies can compare to ANY of the Nolan trilogy.

    There's no comparison whatsoever.

In fact, out of ALL those movies, the only one which was very good was Ironman 1.

But still, Ironman wasn't as good as any of the Nolan trilogy.

Sly, you have really hit rock bottom.

  30. Ok

Disagree though. Avengers was every bit as good as any of the Nolan Trilogy.
