Not too sure about several including Dirrell, Garcia, Lara. The major problem is that its takes years before we see many of them in genuinely competitive fights, due to collusion between networks and promoters/handlers..and given that once they reach pay network level, they fight twice a year...do we really have the patience to wait for Gary Russell Jnr to engage in a 50/50 fight before 2014?
Those are the guys I like. Plenty of good fighters on this list. I also like Oscar Escandon. I wouldn't have bolded him, but Deontay Wilder should be on the list. He has a lot of potential.

Didn't I post a list of comparable fighters from 5 and 10 years ago? And weren't they both irrefutably superior when compared to the list from the current day? clearly we can't know FOR SURE until allllll their careers are over and done, but... fuck's sake we can be pretty certain they were not in the same league.
Again - boxing isn't DYING... but there is a decline when compared to past era's and it's not even a debate. there is also a decline in the USA talent pool, imo. but also look at the Olympic talent overall (not just USA)... even if the Olympic boxers are just as good or close, are they even turning pro or making any noise in the pro ranks? did anyone besides James DeGale make any noise from the 2008 crop? Deontay Wilder maybe.... anyone else? What the hell happened to V/Lomachenko??? I loved that guy. has there been a less successful Olympic crop of boxers in the last 20 years than the 2008 group? Is there anyone from the 2012 that could turn this around?

Yeah, if losing to Grove 11-1 is making noise, then we've all made some noise. DeGale is ducking real comp at the moment. Was just offered a fight with Adonis in an IBF eliminator. Apparently he's having "promotional issues". Ducker.
I think this is all underlining my point. It was a stretch to say DeGale made noise, yet he is the most outstanding professional boxer of the lot, isn't he?
