How exactly does Lewis have more talent than wald pussy? wald pussy is faster, lighter on his feet, has more power between between his 2 hands, better punch repertoire, better punch technique, better combination punching.

He's let down by his awful punch resistance and wald pussyness, but he has a huge amount of talent, especially offensively.

If talent is defined the way most people here seem to do, then it is impossible for a 6'5+ guy to be more 'talented' than guys of lower weight classes

He wasn't. Vlad has great fluidity and an absolute dream of a left hand. Ironically, his skills have been blunted by the very trainer we associate with all these other talented fighters.

Power isn't even debatable. Lewis had more natural power, and it isn't even close. Lummox might not have utilized his left hook as much as wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-, but it was more powerful when he did.

I don't think wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy- had faster hands either. Check out Lewis-Golota. Prime Lewis had very fast hands.

And toughness IS a talent. Lewis didn't have the best of chins, but it was iron compared to wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-'s. And Lewis just had a lot more toughness than wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-wald pussy-, physically, and ESPECIALLY mentally.

Lewis was a FIGHTER with boxing skills, and athletic talent.

There's no comparison. Lewis was more talented than Wald Pussy.

It depends how much stock you put into "FIGHTING talent".

Do you think Marquez is more talented than Zab Judah? As that amounts to basically the same thing here. He is undeniably a superior overall fighter, but he is not more physically talented.

As far as physical talent goes, Lewis has a harder right hand and that's really it.

Wald is athletic but is kinda robotic in how he operates. Lewis was much more fluid and natural in his movements.

Different situation all together. Zab had the natural talent of handspeed, and power, but not much else. No chin, and little ring IQ. Both chin, and ring IQ are talents.

I can't believe you would argue Lewis is faster. Watch some fights of both of them in their prime. Lewis has always been lumbering and oafish with average handspeed for a heavyweight. wald pussy has always had freakishly fast hands for a 6'6 guy, and been fluid and crisp too. Wald pussy without question has faster hands, and is a bit lighter on his feet too.

Again, there's no argument that lewis is tougher physically and mentally, and has more ringsmarts, I just think it depends on what constitutes talent to you.

I think my Marquez and Zab analogy is good. Marquez has 10 times the ring smarts, physical, and mental toughness that Judah has, but 90% of people would consider Judah more talented.

 

Chin is not a talent. Ring IQ is not a talent in the sense most mean when they say talent and it blurs so much with learned knowledge that it's not worth bringing into the conversation.

 

According to Angelo Dundee, Tommy Hearns couldn't use the speed ball nor skip rope. I find it curious, since many, including me, see him as perhaps the most talented boxer ever

 

According to Manny Steward, Hearns was uncomfortable throwing left hooks to the head.

 

Speed bag and skipping ropes have nothing to do with boxing talent though. They are exercise used to build stamina and muscle resistance.

On the Lewis Wlad pussy debate, I'd say that theirs respective performance against Botha showed Lewis was more talented, since he was a lot more fluid than wlad who could be robotic at time (he was still a tremendous talent)

 

I don't think that making an unorthodox style work is a good indicator of talent. By this criteria, Mike the bounty Hunter would be one of the greatest talent ever.

 

They are about rhythm and body coordination though, both basic athletic skills. I guess it could be argued that Hearns was especially talented boxer, not as much of a talented athlete

Good analogy. Yes Zab is more naturally talented than JMM. However, JMM is so much more skilled than Zab that it completely dwarfs all of Zab’s talent.

I think the best way to measure talent is to take JMM and Zab Judah and ask if both guys had the same boxing skill, ring generalship and IQ who would win? In that scenario it would obviously be Zab Judah because his talent in hand & foot speed as well as defensive reflexes is far greater than JMM’s.
