Top 5 fastest hands of all time

I think it goes like this:

    1. Jones: In a league of his own here. Roy's handspeed was plain and simple not of this world.

    2. Camacho
    3. Leonard: Many might put Taylor here, but I honestly think Ray's hands were faster than Mel's. Reason being Ray committed a lot more to his punches, and still was just as fast as when Taylor arm punched. When Taylor sat down on his punches he was still wicked fast, but not as fast as Jones, Camacho, and Leonard tbh.

    4. Taylor
    5. Mosley

Honorable mentions: Tyson, Ali, Zab, Patterson, Hearns, and either Gamboa or Davis.

Sleeper pick: Ismael Laguna. He was fast as fuck.

Prime Pacquiao's hands were clearly faster than Leonard's. Are you talking P4P?

I'd say prime Floyd deserves a mention too. Floyd's speed gradually dissipated in each weight class, but at 130 his hands were very, very quick.

Pacquiao faster hands than Leonard? Ummmm.......no.

Prime Judah was VERY fast. One of the fastest fighters I seen.

Prime Pacquiao at 126 to 130, clearly faster, without question. So was prime Judah actually, his hands were faster than Leonard.

P4P Leonard maybe has faster hands, but in a direct comparison Manny's are clearly faster.

To be honest Mosley also has faster hands, fair enough about Taylor's shoeshines, but Mosley's right hand was hard and faster than anything Leonard threw.

Floyd's hands at 130 were more or less as fast as Leonard's, but slower at 135+.

  9. Ah humility for once. Finally starting to learn that things are YOUR opinion and not FACTS just because you see them that way. Motherfucker...

    Anyway..

Jones (5 hooks in 1 second...that's enough for me)

    Leonard
    Taylor
    Mosley
    Patterson

Leonard had very fast hands for sure, but top 2 or 3? Some of you are overrating his handspeed like crazy. P4P Lenny probably has the edge, but in a direct comparison, Leonard doesn't have faster hands than Pacquiao. Perhaps it's deceptive as Leonard's welterweight opponents were slower than Pacquiao's featherweight opponent.

Everything to MWS is 'clearly', 'definitely', 'absolutely', 'positively', 'without a doubt', etc, even when he is expressing an opinion and not a fact.

It definitely makes him one of the more obnoxious posters around here even when I agree with the sentiment of one of his posts, if not the naive surety it is expressed with.

Some things are just clear. I think Xplosive is pretty bad at judging handspeed, he thinks Lewis had faster hands than wald pussy. Lewis's hands were barely faster than Vitali's.

Yeah he was actually at 135, not quite in the elite group, but his handspeed was legit. He could throw fast with power too, not just pitty pat shoe shines.

Frankly, nobody can fucking judge this shit with any certainty

The topic of handspeed is a waste of time since whoever says "A is clearly faster than B" when the guys being compared are people like Jones, Taylor, Camacho, etc. is basing it off of nothing but the naked eye. How the fuck would you measure this attribute anyway??

The freaky thing about Roy is his hands are OUTRIGHT faster than anyone else, not just in a P4P sense.

BTW I think Tyson has the fastest hands of any heavyweight in history.

He could throw 6 or 7 full power shots, all incredibly fast and accurate. Amazing puncher really.

  23. He's up there fo sho. I think Patterson was a tad faster though. When you see films of Patterson throwing punches you always think they "sped up" the tape...until you realize that the opponent is punching at normal speed. Ludicrous speed, and not just in a P4P sense either.

Interesting, I have seen some Patterson fights, years ago, I remember thinking he was quick, but not as quick as Tyson. I'll check him out again.

But do you think Patterson should count as a heavy? Obviously by today's standards he would be a cruiserweight or light heavyweight.

    It's certainly close, for sure.

I've always thought Tyson had faster hands than Ali. Particularly power shots.

I think Tyson's power shots are faster than any heavy in history, by a decent margin. Ali had a fast jab, and flurries, but his powerpunch speed wasn't amazing.

Patterson is close though, after Sly mentioned him I watched some highlights and the Moore fight - man his hooks were fucking quick, very close to Tyson's speed, especially the left hook.

However I'm not sure he counts. If he was around today he would be a light heavy or cruiser.

Like everyone else, my opinion on this is pure conjecture... of the guys I have watched, Roy Jones and Meldrick Taylor were the fastest

Some guy on ESB said that Khan has faster hands than Taylor. He was being serious.
