Welcome to the 4th edition of the Ultimate Prediction League. You guys should already be familiar with the rules, but I'll just go over a few of the main ones. You pick the winners, method of victory and round of the 5 PPV main card fights. You must send me your picks via PM. You have until 1 hour before the PPV begins (9:00 EST) to send me your picks. Picks not sent via PM or sent after the deadline will not be counted. Scoring is as follows.... Picking the winner: 5 points (10 points if you correctly pick a draw) Picking the round (must pick the winner): 2 bonus points Picking the method of victory (must pick the winner): 2 bonus points Main Event fights will be scored double. Because of the unprecedented 3 way tie in last card's Battle Royal the Main Event is... mikE (Champion) vs. Trplsec vs. Joey83 vs. R-Jay All other players will compete in the Battle Royal to determine the Number 1 Contender for UFC 151. Here are the fights.... -Benson Henderson (16-2; #1 Lightweight) vs. Frankie Edgar (14-2; #2 Lightweight) -Jake Shields (27-6-1; #6 Welterweight) vs. Ed Herman (20-8) -Yushin Okami (26-7; #8 Middleweight) vs. Buddy Roberts (12-2) -Donald Cerrone (18-4) vs. Melvin Guillard (30-10) -Max Holloway (5-1) vs. Justin Lawrence (4-0) Good luck. TFK
Man, I love the Herman-Shields fight. Short Fuse has looked great since coming back from the knee injury he suffered against Aaron Simpson. Shields is going to have his hands full.
To me, it's a perfect style for Shields to look good against. Herman's striking is probably a bit better but Shield's BJJ is on a whole different level. This is going to the ground and I think Shields wins by sub.
Herman is a very good black belt but no near the level of Shields BUT Herman is a bear to take down. He also has good range with his strikes. Shields has looked completely average in the UFC to be honest. But good for him that he's started training beyond just the Cesaer Gracie camp. It can only help.
We/You/I have very conflicted feelings when it comes to how the UFC compensates its fighters. Think of the productivity lost in those exchanges. Now I get why you were so confident you won those exchanges, though. ::
Not sure why they are saying the main event was close. Edgar swept the last 4 rounds. Henderson won the first. thats it. Easy fight to score IMO.
Round 1 Henderson Round 2 clearly Edgar Round 3 close Edgar Round 3 clearly Edgar Round 4 clearly Edgar What a bunch of crap. TFK
I thought Henderson clearly won the 3rd, still, I think he lost the 4th clearly and also the 5th but this one was closer
I honestly didn't think it was close. I thought Edgar won the fight going away after the leg kicks won Henderson the first round. Unreal. Hopefully Edgar drops down to 145 and takes on Aldo. By the way, already looking forward to Diaz-Henderson.
Henderson lands 3 legs kicks in the 1st, does nothing else, and wins a 5 round decision. I'm disgusted. Meanwhile, Donald Cerrone hit Melvin Guillard so hard, Bob Sapp tapped out. TFK
In all honesty, the only significant strikes Henderson landed were the shots to Frankie's calf. It was hardly enough to get a decision. Why doesn't Edgar getting any credit for out-wrestling Henderson? Crazy. Also, Justin Lawrence has a lot of quit in him. First the Mike Chiesa fight and now tonight. His UFC career will be very short.
Thats a bs decision. Henderson got 1 round in the fight, frankiie clearly won 2 rounds. The other 2 were at best a draw for Henderson..
