This movie contains a lot of satire and voilence. I really enjoyed this movie. A Paul Verhoeven masterpiece.

 

A truly awesome film. Expect some piece of shit to 'update' it real soon.

Sooner than what you think: they just announced that the actor who plays Chucky White in Boardwalk Empire joined the cast of the remake, along with Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Jackie Earle Haley. Joel Kinnaman from AMC's "The Killing" will play Alex Murphy/Robocop. Starts shooting next month and will be released on summer 2013.

Only the first one is worth watching. Don't bother with the tv show either or the made-for-tv movie from a few years ago.

 

#1 was AWESOME....
#2 was Okay...

I don't know shit about a third movie..or tv show...

 

in ROBOCOP 3 Murphy (played by a different actor) does battle against the japanese mafia. He even flies!:boohoo:

The tv series was lame (different actor again). Just your regular cop show except he is "robocop'.

The made-for-tv movie from a few years ago was so incredibly boring I stopped watching after 25 minutes.

 

Classic.

So how do you rate Robocop 1?

 

Agree with #1 and #2. The third movie is complete shit. Don't waste your time with that piece of crap.

 

These days I like 2 better than 1. From an original stand point 1 is obviously the better film, but if I had to chose which to watch today, 2 is more entertaining IMO and I've seen it more. Plus I thought the shot gun scene in the first film was very disturbing and was always kind of hard for me to watch. Seemed a bit much for an action film like that.

 

The first film is a scifi classic. A movie ahead of its time. When I first watched it I got very excited about the possibilities it opened for other films to follow(I was thinking specifically about an Iron Man movie). Surprisingly it took incredibly long for those 'man-in-an-armor-suit' films to materialize. I have watched Robocop more times than I can recall. Rewatched it a few months ago to initiate my daughter to this character. Now I found it a little dated, but still works.

You can find the origin, but I think a lot of people latched onto it and made it into a proto-meme.
