On reflection it wasn't an out and out robbery, it was a fairly close fight, but I think it was still somewhat of a gift decision. Like I said, Camarelle edged the first, Josh edged the 3rd, and Camarelle won the 2nd very, very clearly.
It's the old "I won my rounds bigger than he won his" argument. I'm still pissed over large chunks of the amateur boxing this time around.
Basically yeah, and the "Fighter A won his rounds bigger than fighter B" actually holds more weight in amateur boxer, given the scoring system. But amateur or pro scoring I think Camarelle won.
By the way I did find Chenko a bit disappointing this time around. Talent and skill wise, he's one of the best amateurs I've ever seen, and I am exciting at the prospect of him turning pro. But this time around he just coasted a bit too much, his fights looked like sparring sessions. I would have liked to have seen him try and get a stoppage or two.
Agreed. It seemed that he wanted to win as easily as he can (and he did win easily indeed) but he didn't try to beat everybody up as he did four years ago. For example he has stopped his Korean final opponent in their last two meetings, now he wasn't close of ending it. It could be that he finds his hunger back once he turns pro
He really needs to turn pro; he is getting complacent and his game will suffer if he keeps beating on the same guys over and over. I was still very impressed with him but it was like he wanted to show his dominance this time by winning gold without breaking even a sweat. He did so, but that can end up biting a fighters on the arse. MTF
No doubt, first time seeing him ( well, in fact, I think saw him ko a french dude in the world serie of boxing but I'm not sure it was him ) and was underwhelmed after all I've heard about him. You could see he had talent and skills, but it seemed he didn't have that little extra that makes great fighter. Hope it was only a motivation issue
complacent, coasted, motivation issues, etc..etc....just excuses for when Felix Verdejo Sanchez gets his revenge in the PRO's...
