This time, does Pavlik get shitfaced before he hits the bar?

I don't know if Spinks ever had trouble making the light heavy limit. Unless he'd have to absolutely kill himself to make 170 is about the only chance Pavlik would have. Even then it's only a chance.

    A slim one.

The "Spinks Jinks" renders Pavlik more out of it than he usually is

Spinks would have knocked Kelly cold in 5 rounds max.

Eddie Mustafa would have knocked Pav cold also.

Many, many light-heavies would have beaten up Pavlik.

I assume you are referring to the odds of Pavlik living or dying as a result of the bout

Or the chances Pavlik would ever have made it far enough up the ranks to qualify for a title shot in 1983.....

Don't forget that if Pavlik was placed to the 80s he would automatically become stronger, more skillful and committed, which evens the scale quite a bit

The late 70's/early 80's had the deepest talent level 175 has ever seen. That's not been era biased, it's just a fact.

Pavlik would get his shit rocked by Mike Rossman, and Yauqi Lopez.

Spinks was 170.5 for Sears in 1985 so I think he'd make the weight okay.

He then beats the alcoholic out of Pavlik.

    Yawn.

So what is your pick? Is it a close fight? Cant wait to hear how Spinks MIGHT be able to get the win over Pavlik.

Hey, stop giving that realistic view of that time. It's way easier to make snarky remarks to defend today's LH division that is way, way worse than the late 70's/early 80's.

And since everybody knows this, do we need / can there even be an actual, serious thread matching an all-time great LH champ against an average middleweight champ?

    Spaddy stops him

    with a gun

Even if Spaddy is strong enough to pull a trigger (which I doubt) he still wouldn't have much power behind his shots. He could only use the gun as a range finder
