Looking forward to this one. With Rousey it's very simple. She is 5-0 in her pro career after going 3-0 as an amateur. All 8 wins are via armbar in the first round. If she gets Kaufman on the ground, it's as good as over.

Kaufman is one of the top strikers in women's MMA. And her takedown defense is decent. Her lone loss, however, was via armbar to Marloes Coenen.

The Jacare-Brunson fight should also be interesting.

    Main card (Showtime)
    • Bantamweight Championship bout: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Sarah Kaufman
    • Middleweight bout: Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson
    • Welterweight bout: Tarec Saffiedine vs. Roger Bowling
    • Middleweight bout: Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith
    • Light Heavyweight bout: Ovince St. Preux vs. T.J. Cook
    Preliminary card (Showtime Extreme)

    • Bantamweight bout: Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie
    • Lightweight bout: Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse
    • Middleweight bout: Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry
    • Featherweight bout: Hiroko Yamanaka vs. Germaine de Randamie

    54 seconds. Amazing.

It's kind of like Royce Gracie and the RNC in the early days of the UFC.

Yeah this girl is fucking great with that Arm bar. And then she called out Cyroid. I would love to see that.

I'd love to see her beat the testicles off of Cyborg.

    Why was Cyborg suspended?

    Is it the obvious answer?

    Yes, obvious.

Apparently the NSA almost granted her a TRT exemption. Luckily they realized at the last minute that she was supposed to be a chick.

By the way, not sure if Rousey coined the term or not, but "Cyroid" is a great nickname.

That was one of the better "call-outs" in MMA history.

"Guyborg" was a good one too. I'd love to see this fight if they do some extra drug testing in the months leading up to the fight.

can cyborg even make 135? rousey mentioned that there will be no match at catchweight. anyways, rousey is a superstar, but i wonder if she'll be as good if there were more former olympic judokas around in women's mma.

That's a great question. Rousey's armbar and, her ability to get into position to apply it, is amazing. However, it all starts because her judo has allowed her to quickly get all her opponents to the ground. And she almost always hits the ground in mount or side control.

But her ground game is solid all around. Mesha Tate, who is a very good female wrestler, actually had Rousey's back on the ground for about 30 seconds. But Rousey was able to get back to her feet and get her own take down.

Funny considering the armbar, but the thing that was probably most impressive about the win over Kaufman was Rousey popping a triple jab and a right cross to start the fight. It helped her close the distance immediately.

I think a catch-weight fight at 140 would be fair. It would force Cyborg off the juice for sure.

Personally I'd prefer Cyborg never fight again. She has used an unfair advantage to really beat up other women. Steroid advantage for women is far different from men.

Great card considering I follow MMA quit a bit and didn't know half the names on it. Meisha Tate pulled out a good win but was getting her ass handed to her early on. She's not ready for Rousey, maybe not ever.

Rousey looked great again, completely dominated one of the best in her division. I thought Kaufman might have a chance if she could drag the fight into the later rounds. Rousey's chin and stamina has yet to be tested. Cyborg will fit the bill there if they can agree on a weight to meet. I think a catchweight 140 fight is suitable for no title.

Jacare looked damn good, time for him to meet up with Rockhold again. I think Rockhold pulls out a narrow win in the next fight. Rockhold is a bad dude.

rousey seems like she gets more mainstream coverage than ufc fighters.

I honestly can't see that Rousey stands much chance against Cyborg. Its easy to get wrapped up in Rousey's hype and she's certainly had some impressive wins with that signature armbar, but Cyborg is a MUCH more well rounded fighter that's been tested in all areas, Rousey's chin and stamina are still big question marks. I think Cyborg beats the living shit out of Rousey if they ever meet. I don't see Cyborg getting taken down so easily and she's a very well accomplished in BJJ as well. Rousey will likely not have a strength advantage over Cyborg either as she's enjoyed over her other opponents. Cyborg is bigger, stronger, more athletic and much more skilled in all areas. I want to see the fight, but I don't see Rousey having a good chance of winning.

Well, she's not half bad looking which helps and she runs her mouth a lot. The media eats it up.

I really can't comment on a potential Rousey-Cyborg fight until we see Cyborg fight under strict drug testing. Up until this point, everything she's done and everyone she has beaten is meaningless.

You talk about a strength advantage for Cyborg, which is definitely true. However, that strength has been unfairly gained.

I think Ronda stands a good chance. Watch the Gina vs. Cyborg fight again. Gina had control of cyborg on the ground until for whatever reason she let her up. And gina is no where near as good as rousey on the ground.

Cyborg is more skilled and experienced in most areas, not all. I don't know if she'll be stronger and more athletic without steroids. Ronda has a great chance as long as it's a fair fight with no drugs involved.

That was a long time ago and Cyborg has no doubtedly improved. She still put a beating on Gina though. Gina however was VERY large and strong for 145, she was a candidate for a 155lb dvision if there ever was one. Ronda won't have those advantages.

She tested positive for ONE fight against a nobody at that. You can't just throw out her dominant performances in her previous fights.

I havent seen any indication that her ground game has improved.
And while i agree it was a while ago, it still was only 3 fights ago for santos.

    I like Rousey...mostly because she's :hump:

With that said...I'm leery of what happens when she can't get the armbar and has to fight. She could quickly transition into Kimbo Slice land.

We don't know if she can take a shot and don't know what her stamina is like.

And those are the two biggest question marks I have on her right now. Meisha Tate had her stunned a little with a few good shots, but she made the mistake of going to her wrestling too soon thinking she could control Rousey. She tagged Rousey a few times though and stopped in her tracks for a bit. This is exactly why I think Cyborg is going to beat the shit out of her, she has more power in her punches than anyone and she throws tons of combinations. Rousey will have never been hit like that before or that often and I just don't think she'll deal with it very well.

Nevermind the fact that SHE LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING MAN!

Dude, you are out of your damn mind if you think she's hasn't been doing roids her entire career. Women do not look like her.

  25. Orion

    Orion Not Ordinary

Man, she's got some muscle on her frame, so does Rousey and nobody is accusing her of juicing...oh because she hasn't been caught yet. She's not the prettiest woman in the face for sure, but every Brazilian is not a supermodel and that's not a racist remark, its a fact. Brazilians have a wide range of looks in women and men, some are attractive, some are not.

She's got the body of a man and more telling, the jawline of a woman on HGH.

There are PEDs that help you lose weight.

I'm not really sure that a juiced up woman is much different than a juiced up man compared to the norms. I suppose it might be, but regardless, the differences tend to be huge in either case.

Hell, I think the biggest tell is her voice.

She's either a 6 pack a day smoker, or has more testosterone coursing through her veins then Orion.

Oh, and look at that fucking neck. Looks like Arnie in "Pumping Iron".

Ugh, just curious, how much dealings have you had with steroids, personally? I'm not being an ass but its hard to have this discussion with someone if they don't fully understand it. You would not spot anyone on HGH these days, I believe what you're referring to is a very old version of HGH which isn't even manufactured anymore that came from human cadavers, the newer synthetic versions over the last 15 years or so doesn't have this problem. HGH is a fantastic cutting drug, it rips fat like there's no tomorrow, but that's about its only benefit outside of bodybuilding where its compounded with Testosterone and other bulking drugs.

I have no steroids in my veins, only my body's own natural Tesosterone. Fugger.
