Me and my whole family love this show. If you are not into science fiction you'll miss most of the jokes. All the characters are hilarious, but my favorites are Sheldon & Penny. When those two are together is pure magic.

Did they talk about how things were in the 17th century?

Matter of taste I guess. I like plenty of science fiction and I've never heard a single joke I didn't remotely "get", when watching that show.

It doesn't exist above anybody's head, just because they throw out pop culture and nerd/geek references with the subtlety of a claw hammer into your brain.

"Community" does the same thing and is about 1000 times smarter about it.

If you haven't already seen it, you must watch the paedophile special. Honestly, I cry laughing at it.

I watched the first 6-7 episodes of Community and couldn't bring myself to watch anymore. I rarely found anything funny about it. Some people like it, but I really didn't care for it. I kept waiting to see what was so good about it, and gave up after the first 6-7 eps.

BBT had me hooked after one or two full episiodes.

Community is great. Too bad it's getting the shaft and sent to the Friday night death slot.

32 posts before Kaley Cuoco gets mentioned.

    Pathetic.

Community gets a lot better pretty much at the time you quit watching it, maybe the 2nd half of the first season.

Ok, this looks to be pretty funny:

"Last month, the notorious paedophile Sidney Cook was blasted into space to spend the rest of his life aboard a one-man prison vessel posing no further threat to children on Earth. But it was revealed that an 8-year-old boy was also placed on board by mistake and is now trapped alone in space with the monster. A spokesman said "This is the one thing we didn't want to happen"

Yeah, I think 13 episodes and done.

It's amazing it lasted as long as it did. I would have loved to have seen what they could do with the show, with the same budget and magically transported to another network like FX.

It's not really a network friendly type show, and the suits at NBC hated it.

Actually whiskey, my comment was just fishing to see who was going to get sensitive first about me not watching to watch a show that wasn't made in the US.

Blackadder, Father Ted, Faulty Towers, The Fast Show, The Royal Family, Shameless, Porridge, Rising Damp, Phoenix Nights, Brass Eye, The Day Today, The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Only Fools and Horses...just some of the tremendous British comedy shows which piss, from a great height, on any US 'comedy'.

    Not even remotely funny.
I've even spoken to (and then beaten up) nerds about it who also verified it's 'unfucking-funniness'

The Big Bang Theory = :shit:
