Sometimes i really question your love for movies. At times you are brilliant with analysis and then you come with some crazy shit like this.
I think the same about you. A serious drama that out of the left field turns into a musical and suddendly has a frog rain? come on! This wasn't El Topo for crying out loud!
The frog rain was biblical. And because one song is sung that doesnt mean its a musical. Give it another chance.
It wasn't biblical. In Exodus it tells of a plague of frogs, not rain. BTW the concept of frog rain is part of a phenomenom that was reported in earlier eras as well as fish rain. Is in the same category as UFOs, Loch Ness monster, mothmen and the like, but less popular. The song is sung by ALL the cast at different locations. That was plain ridiculous. I cringed and laughed at the same time. It lost me right there. Then the frog rain finished it. I was expecting a stampede of Bigfoots next.
No, it was biblical. The movie was very biblical. Remember the quiz show when the woman who got escorted out had a sign athat read Exodus 8:2? The weather forcast was 82% chance of Rain. The gambler that needed a 2 in blackjack but got an 8 instead, the first temperature was 82 degrees, the movie poster at the bus stop, the placecards on the hung convicts, the number on the date hotline, the science convention started at 8:20, stac of cards reveal an 8 through 2 of diamonds, the sign on the road flashes exodus 8:2, the number on the firefigher plane, the mugshot numbers for marcy were 8282828282, The bar scene with the two teams the s and the Clouds and the score was 8-2, The graffiti next to the boy, the kids were two days away from entering their 8th week as champions, the first two numbers of the Seduce and Destroy Hotline (1-877-TAME-HER) are 82, Jim says he gets off work at 8:00, and Claudia suggests they meet 2 hours later for a date
That is numerology, my friend. Closer to Alchemy, astrology and other mystical practices like Kabbalah. It has nothing to do with the bible to coin it 'biblical'.
Tom Cruise was great in this movie. The scene with his dad was very emotional. The part with Tom Cruise was specifically written for Tom Cruise.
I could see that. Cruise was very good here. He was also great in Tropic Thunder. I didn't knew it was him until the end credits.:giggle:
