Ward-Dawson: FINAL predictions

I don't expect too many to pick Chad here. I'm not either, BUT I think it'll be a much closer fight than many expect.

I fully expect Dawson to bring his A game, and to give Ward stylistic problems. Chad is far more athletic, skilled, and longer than Froch, and Kessler, and a southpaw. I expect him to give Ward the toughest fight of Dre's career, but in the end I think Ward pulls it out.

Of course, if its the sleeping walking Dawson that showed up against Pascal, Ward will win by a very wide margin.

IF Chad brings his A game, and Ward still wins big, then Ward will become P4P #1 IMO.

Especially because I have a feeling that Chumpez Jr will upset old man Martinez.

 

Doorson is a negative creep and only one step up from a scrub. A talented scrub.

Chad Dawson is a slightly faster, slicker version of Fraudley Harrison- a naturally talented guy who has no interest whatsoever in doing any actual fighting. He'll get a shellacking here in an incredibly dull affair.

Y'all will be eating your words if Chad pulls the upset (which is very possible).

And even if Chad loses, it's no shame as Ward is one of the best 168 has ever had.

i think its a good fight. competitive. not sure who will win. If ward is as good as some think then it will be interesting to see how he goes about attacking dawson. i expect ward will concentrate on defense so that dawson is unable to land many clean shots early on and gets frustrated. ward cant really crack at all with the right hand. we'll see if scully has his guy drilled to only look out for the left hooks or straight lefts and otherwise let his hands go.

I haven't been following their training camps...but I see dawson is a big 175 who shouldn't be able to get down to 168....He might be dead man walking by fight night...

And wtf are you talking about Gatti - Ward for? I didn't enjoy any of those fights particularly. What has Gatti - Ward got to do with anything?

This fight is interesting-ish, as Doorson is the biggest and most technically adept fighter Ward has fought, but ultimately I think Ward is going to slap him around and give him the downie treatment, as Doorson is just a useless plank of wood.

 

Agreed, it's going to be a horrible fight. For some reason Xplosive just has a major hard-on for Doorson.

Honestly I'd be pretty shocked if he did. I'm no Ward fan, but he's legit, well rounded, and simply knows how to fight. Doorson lost to Pascal. He is not an elite fighter, Ward is.

 

Dawson CLEARLY didn't perform at his best against Pascal. It's not even a question. Everytime he let his hands go, he beat Pascal's ass. He was just sleep walking. And despite that, he was STILL robbed of a stoppage in the end. I don't think Pascal was gonna survive the duration of the fight.

It'll be a competitive chess match. But as the rounds go on, I expect Ward to impose and infight where I feel Dawson is uncomfortable.

 

The comparison with Harrison is completely valid in the context of both 'fighters' respective traits, not necessarily their careers. Both are naturally talented, capable, skilled in their respective ways but both are completely feckless; neither of them has the remotest interest in doing any actual fighting. Dawson has achieved more, but like Harrison he has ultimately proven himself to be a complete waste of natural ability.

its a silly comparison between a world class fighter and a never was. which fights did harrison display all of this natural ability he had? against vidoz?

 

When he won an Olympic gold medal, perhaps? When he could use his natural gifts (big, rangy, heavy-hands etc) and not have to worry about being hurt or being dragged into an actual fight? Harrison was a feckless lump as a professional, but he was certainly a world-class amateur.
