Matthyse vs Ajose

Come to think about it, I'm starting to doubt if Rios even beats Alvarado.

 

Alvarado is really not that good himself. It will depend on how Rios handles the jump to 140.

I think Matthysse vs Garcia is the fight to be made at 140.

 

I watched the press confrence. It looked like man standin next to boy.

Rios is the better fighter, but I think Mike might be too big.

STILL, I favor Rios by the slimmest margin.

Perhaps. I've liked Maidana forever and would have said he hits harder than Matthysse, but it does seem like Matthysse hits harder right now.
He also has a better style for getting his power on a guy. I think Maidana would have had a lot more trouble with Oleguson.

Around the 5th round, it struck me that I might be watching a death bout. Oleguson was taking some tremendous shots, but wasn't giving the ref a chance to stop the fight. However, I was very impressed with Oleguson after the fight. He seemed just fine health-wise and he was intelligent and insightful with his responses to Gray.

 

Agreed on all counts, esp about the death part.

Matthyse was dealing out the type of sustained beating that I thought would result in Ajose ending up in the ER.

And yeah, Maidana would struggle with Ajose. Maidana isn't as accurate as Matthyse, isn't as powerful, doesn't put together combos as well as Lucas, doesn't work the body like Lucas, is much easier to hit (for an offensive fighter, Matthyse's defense is decent), and above all, Matthyse has a MUCH better chin than Maidana.

PLUS, Maidana is past his prime. It's very possible Ajose would have beaten Chino last night.

I'm still a fan of Maidana, but he's very limited. Matthyse would murder Maidana, I don't give a shit if Maidana narrowly beat him as an amateur. It means nothing. Matthyse is much better as a pro fighter.
