Sergio struggled against Baker, who is ordinary and I think junior is better than Baker, so i'm sure junior will give Sergio a tough fight. Junior has his own legacy to fulfill after all.
Martinez KO 7 Jr. is NOT a hungry fighter, first of all. He is a lazy bum who sleeps all day and parties all night, skipping training sessions at that. He simply does not have the discipline nor the dedication to be a top fighter. It is true that Martinez has become overrated by many on this forum, but thats a Mythical Matchups issue there..... At the end of the day, Sergio is quicker and slicker, and has faced better fighters. Chavez Jr is not better than either Paul Williams or Kelly Pavlik. And Jr's bad habit of walking into punches is going to be very costly in this fight. Martinez wins BIG.
Well, regarding what happens in the ring - he's stopped his previous 4 opponents. A couple of them in pretty violent fashion. Whatever you may think of him and his style, when it comes down to it - he can fight, and punch. Compare that with Chavez's recent handful of fights which includes a decision over a tiny middleweight in Rubio and an arguable loss to a relative scrub in Zbik. I think he'll beat the shit out of the big goofy mook, and it'll look like Man Vs Boy.
I'm juiced up for this fight for some reason.....I dislike both fighters....but these two fighters seriously dislike each other...it's going to be a slugfest....and my comcast is back on....so WAR!!!!
the guys he knocked out were relative nobodies (two of them absolute nothings whom he struggled mightily to beat) and one of them was a million-to-one freak shot, as indicative of a trend as Nino Benvenuti one-punching Luis Rodriguez
It's not like it was over 4 journeymen. The 2 nothings were at least fairly solid middleweights, they weren't total scrubs. He is smaller than these guys too. Chavez dwarfs everyone and in the same span of fights only stopped 2 of his opponents. Martinez has pretty good pop at middleweight, he's very good at setting up and landing big shots too. You'll see on Saturday when Chavez is counting budgies :kidcool:
Ah noo yer ah bag fan o' th' auld Chavez Seniir, boot ah'm suer tha' deep doon ye ken Sergio as gunna weep has suave Argentinian jobbehs aul oover Joonior's goofeh littel fess. Don' mek me fyud ye!

it's NOT that Martinez is super awesome, it's a case of Chavez Jr. being so-so average. But the rumor are that Chavez Jr. is right now 12 lbs from 160...I don't know if that is normal for most fighters...but I don't see how losing 12lbs in 3 days is healthy, if he is struggling to make weight Maravilla will look much more MARAVILLOS...A...
I've been goin back and forth with this one for awhile. When the fight was first announced, I thought it was a no brainer for Maravilla. Then I gave it more thought, and still favored Martinez, but gave Chavez a real chance. THEN, last week I was saying that I thought Chavez would pull the upset. But my official pick and PERMANENT pick is Martinez TKO 11. Chavez Jr will give a good account of himself. Partially because he's improved into a good fighter, and partially because Martinez has slipped, but in the end it won't be enough. Marvailla will slowly, but surely pick Junior apart in what I think will be his last great performance.
Those of You Judging Martinez On his Most RECENT Fights are MISTAKEN...Those were STAY BUSY Fights that Martinez Took LIGHTLY, yet when he WANTED to End those Bouts, he Did just That...Dude Fights to the Level of his Opposition, Simple as That...Put him in w/the FEARED Paul Williams/Kelly Pavlik & he Shines...Put him in w/the UNDEFEATED Dzinzizzzzzzz & Martinez EMBARRASSES him...Put him in w/Guys he'd Probably NEVER Heard Of Until Seeing their Names on a Contract & he COASTS a Bit... Put Martinez in a BIG Fight, his 1st PPV Headliner, Against a Burgeoning Star & he's Gonna Shine...Watch & See...SIZE, YOUTH & BODYPUNCHING R Chavez Jr's ONLY Advantages Here...The Fact of the Matter is, Sergio Martinez is Faaaaaaaar & Away THE BEST Fighter Chavez Jr. will have EVER Faced...By Leaps & Bounds... Martinez has GREAT Footwork; Can Jr. CORNER Him Loooooong Enough to Do Body Damage???...Martinez is an ACCURATE SOUTHPAW; Can Jr. DEAL w/the Trajectory of the Incoming???...Martinez is an UNDERRATED Puncher/Finisher; Can Jr. WITHSTAND the Incoming???...REED's Betting he Can't...On the Flipside, What EXACTLY is Jr. Going to Present to Martinez that Kelly Pavlik Already DIDN'T???...Pavlik's just as BIG, was Still in his PRIME & Hits CONSIDERABLY HARDER than Jr., yet Martinez SCHOOLED him... This will Be a Poor Man's Whittaker-Chavez, w/the Likelihood of a STOPPAGE @ the End...Martinez TKO 11...Jr. will Show Enough HEART to Legitimize Himself to Hardcore Fans, but there's a Grand CanyonESQUE Gap in Skills & Talent, Fellas... REED:fist:
Upside, inside out she's livin la vida loca She'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca Her lips are devil red and her skin's the color mocha She will wear you out livin la vida loca Come On! Livin la vida loca, Come on! She's livin la vida loca.
I hope you're right, I never like to pick against Martinez, I think he's a certified bad ass but I fear the youth, chin and size advantage of Chavez Jr is going to give him some problems.
There are three possible outcomes to this fight: Martinez knocks out Chavez, Martinez wins a decision, or Martinez gets robbed.
if everyone here picking Martinez will call him Ricky Martin after he gets knocked out i'd appreciate it maybe also sing out loud Upside, inside out she's livin la vida loca
I'm changing my pick... Chavez looks like he hasn't been taking this seriously at all, while Martinez appears very prepared and fit. I still hope Chavez wins for the Lulz, but I think Martinez is going to pot-shot him pretty easily and win going away
If Roach has taught Junior to move his head more and feet effectively then Junior will pose some problems for Martinez, but I feel Junior is quaking in his boots and will receive a beating now. He looked to me physically shook and worried and that the task in front of him may be one that is too big to overcome.
I keep going back and forth. I'll stick with how I was leaning when the fight was signed. Chavez decision.
Well, to me anyways. He looked like he was trembling as he was being interviewed and drinking from his bottle and when he spoke his voice was crackly.
