To answer your question Anthony, Yes, if two champions are going to fight, it should be at the lower weight with both belts on the line. If the heavier champ can't do it, then fight someone else. Fuck catchweights.

What if both fighters want the fight equally? I really dont have a problem with a catch weight under these circumstances.

I disagree with Jarhead. I think the smaller guy should always come up. In combat sports, the importance of titles NORMALLY increases with weight.

And in this case Silva is also the top P4P guy in the sport. There is no way he should drop even 1 pound to face GSP.

I don't know, the 5 pages of insults kind of build up the hug. Its kind of like foreplay.....

Do you think Silva could make 170 without cutting off a leg?

No, but I don't really think this fight needs to be made either. I would rather see Silva move up to 205 myself. Have GSP move up to 185. Both start new campaigns and clean out new divisions.

Personally I just think GSP gets wrecked by Silva. He's just too small.

GSP will easily wrestle Silva to the ground and grind out a decision.

Come on man. GSP has amazing wrestling at 170 but there's no way that translates at 180 against an elusive guy like Silva.

And don't let the Sonnen fight fool you. Sonnen is a huge middleweight and is a far better clinch grappler than GSP.

Not to mention, Chael is just a tough guy and willing to walk through shots to get the clinch. GSP doesn't like to get hit. He reacts badly to damage and won't be willing to take much from Silva.

This couldn't possibly be an easier fight for Silva. He beats GSP into submission within 2 rounds. I wouldn't be shocked to see GSP quit on his stool.

You think Silva is the same fighter he was 6 years ago? When is the last time GSP submitted anyone?

No man, lol, hes just trying to show Silva's weakness is his ground game. Sure, it is. But the size advantage that Anderson has over GSP is crazy. And like you said, GSP doesn't submit anyone. He won't be able to just hold Silva down. I see this fight pretty similar to Silva/Sonnen 2. Silva is just to smart to get pulled into a ground fight with GSP.

Nope. But apparently you think GSP is the same fighter he was 5 years ago.
That being said, Silva's wrestling still blows to this day.

I used to think GSP had a shot, because of his insane wrestling obviously.

But yeah, Silva is just too big. Sonnen is a pretty big middleweight, and tough. I can't see GSP even taking the risks necessary to repeatedly take Silva down, or even having the strength to hold him there.

GSP's frame is already maximised at 170, Silva is a naturally much bigger man.

However good of a wrestler GSP is, I just can't imagine him out wrestling guys as big as Silva, or even Sonnen for that matter.

Has he been training his chin since the Serra fight? You can improve TDD, you can't improve your chin.

So i guess GSP lost to serra the second time they fought too right? Has Silva improved his TDD? exactly.

He shouldn't have taken two tries to beat Matt Serra in the first place. Yes, Silva has good TDD. It wasn't easy fro Chael to take him down, it's not going to be easy for GSP. Especially considering the fact that he's so much shorter than Sonnen. You're overlooking a huge advantage Silva will have in size over GSP. He is not as big and strong as Sonnen nor is he as fearless and durable as Sonnen.

Sonnen took him down like a baby, what are you talking about? And talk to Royce Gracie about size when taking down an opponent.
