REED Called U an "Exaggerator & a Knee Jerk Reactor"...Giving Cotto "No Shot In Hell" is Most Certainly an EXAGGERATION... REED:Lok:
And a Guy that Repeatedly CIRCLED Tito, w/Out Allowing him to Get Set, ALWAYS Gave him Problems...Miguel Cotto has Exhibited the Ability to Do This... REED:mj:
Alright, lets address all of them. First off, you're calling me the king of exaggerating, yet you're talking about Tito as if he was Jeff Lacy. Tito's footwork was not "piss poor". Well, his footwork going back was, but coming forward it was not. While he hardly had the come forward footspeed of Tyson, it wasn't nearly as bad as you're painting it. Secondly, you're OVERRATING the Hell outta Cotto's abilities. Miggy has techincally good footwork, and balance, but he's simply NOT fleet footed. He doesn't have the ability to dance, and move on his feet consistently, as DLH did for 8 rounds. Tito being in his face non-stop would force Cotto to burn much energy attempting to stay on his feet, and he just does not have the ability to do that all night long. He's also a midget, with alligator arms. Tito was about 5'11, with long arms, and much QUICKER hands than you seem to remember. He was also a better counter puncher than you seem to remember, and had excellent timing. Trust me, he WOULD land on Cotto. And when he does, the effect would be unlike any Cotto has ever experienced before. Even a LOADED WRAP Marg didn't have fraction of Tito's power. Cotto would do well for awhile, but at some point Tito catches him with something big. Its inevitable. There's NEVER been a Cotto fight in which Miggy didn't have to take big shots to win. When Tito puts him on Queer street, Cotto wouldn't have the legs, defensive or survival skills to make it. And yes, among everything yes, you forget that Tito was a world class finisher. So once again I say, Cotto has no shot in Hell to beat Tito. Tito stops him 10/10. And once again I'll say, not only does Cotto not beat Tito, but at 154 he'd have gotten his ass kicked by Vargas.
Im not sayin he was SRL....but he had decent movement.. Honesty.. There is NO WAY. Cotton could withstand Tito...Titos left hook was tommy herns esq....he would put cotto on queer street
I'd say both, but you're probably right, given his style, the fact that he needed 5 seconds to set his big floppy feet and unleash his big retard hooks with the anvil swinging round is more significant.
REED - re-watch Hopkins-Tito. It was a masterful/one sided display by B-Hop, but it wasn't effortless. There were points in the fight in which B-Hop was FORCED by Tito to fight off the ropes, and took SEVERAL big left hooks. Of course, in B-Hop we ARE talking about a defensive specialist, with one of the best chins of all time, and a HUGE middleweight to boot. Not to mention, prime B-Hop had all time great stamina as well. Do you really envision little ass, mediocre chinned Miggy surviving those same stretches?
Not really. I can't envision a scenario in which Miggy wins. I can easily envision him giving a good account of himself, but not winning.
I'm surprised people think Cotto could beat Trinidad... to me, it's a slam-dunk KO at some point, easy fight to pick.
You know.. W all differ in opinions here but this one is surprising...I just can't imagine cotto NOT getting stretched in this one
It was not as one sided as it seems. Hopkins was a bitch even then and did nothing for the first 6 rounds. I think it was even after 6 on the judges cards. Hopkins dismantled him later. Not that Tito had nothing to do with it. Hopkins could have walked him down, but as usual he was cautious.
What's a "dry humper" He was plenty greasy. I am sure he was a greasy humper. He was a dirty little faggot that is for sure. His skill is vastly overrated and he accomplished much of what he did bending the rules and fighting like a drunken third worlder.
Thinking it over, I'd have to pick Tito. He'd have his hands full and get outboxed for stretches, but he was very accurate, had good (overrated, but good) power, and he never stopped coming forward. That is exactly the kind of guy that Cotto cannot deal with. Tito is leagues better than Margarito.
In Terms of Sheer FOOTWORK, Tito WAS On Par w/Jeff Lacy...Even George Foreman Picked Up on the FACT that Tito Got On the Balls of his Feet Just PRIOR to Punching & the Key to MINIMIZING his Effectiveness was to Keep TURNING him... Last Time REED Checked, George Foreman was Faaaaaaaaar from a Master Strategist or Boxer, yet Even HE Could See This...Footwork was a SIZABLE chank in Tito's Armor that Simply CANNOT Be Overlooked... Coming Forward IN A STRAIGHTfuckingLINE, Tito was Great...But when Forced to Move LATERALLY (Even a TAD) or BACKWARDS, his Footwork was PUTRID...& When a Guy CIRCLED Tito, he All but NULLIFIED his Workrate... REED:Lok:
Yeah Foreman compared him to a track runner i believe. But i think Foreman also said that his unique footwork could also be helpful with how well he released that hook.
Cotto can't move laterally, or circle all night long. He aint Ray Leonard. Cotto has good footwork, but FOR THE MOST PART he's a stationary fighter. A stationary fighter who isn't that hard to hit.
Cotto is not really that fast on his feet, though. Oscar was pretty fast on his feet as was Hopkins, but Cotto's movement is more on par with Fernando Vargas. And I really have a hard time envisioning Cotto surviving those exchanges with Trinidad. Those short hooks and uppercuts would take their toll on Miguel and I think it would just be a matter of time, honestly. Its a styles, thing. Trinidad is bigger, stronger, quicker, more powerful, and better stamina. He would eventually dial in and find the range. Cotto would make it fun and he'd get plenty of shots in but he won't be able to handle Tito's power.
You're probably right, Cotto would be confused by Tito's big, slow, floppy legs, and ponder if his opponent was actually fighting in mud.
After Cotto's spirited effort against the Money Mayweather, has anyone changed opinions on who is greater between Cotto vs Trinidad?
