Bradley and Khan aren't really comparable. Khan is already a legit star in the UK, and that could be translated here fairly easily as he's got a built-in ethnic fanbase. If G wants to make Khan huge in the States, I say take the kid to Chicago. Every parki already knows who he is there - plaster his posters all over Devon Ave, spread it by word of mouth, get the young kids talking about it and voila, you're selling better in Chicago than Andrew Golota ever did. Hell, even the Indians would buy tickets. I know people - non-boxing fans even - who would travel to Chicago for a big Khan fight. Couple fights there and he'd be packing out MSG with Desis after that. Guaranteed.
They tried that with Hatton in Boston and it didnt work well. Basically you're saying they should go the Naseem Hamed route....he fought in NYC, Connecticut and Detroit but in his biggest fight wound up in Vegas. Regardless... Golden Shower Promotions isnt interested in building a fan base as long as the casinos are paying decent site fees. Lesser opponents they can take out of Vegas because they take less money. Plus....he fought in NYC and didn't fill up the small room at Madison Square Garden. Steve Kim wrote about the lack of buzz and interest in Vegas for the Judah fight. He wrote there was a announced crowd of 7,000 (Mandalay Bay holds 12,000) and the vast majority was papered. Said the hotel was offering two for one deals on tickets and they GAVE AWAY tickets to soldiers at a local air force base. Khoward being "huge" in the U.S. won't happen.
Hatton isn't Irish, WTF would that work in Boston? Nobody cares about a British fighter anywhere in the States. Hamed's biggest fight being in Vegas had a lot to do with who he was fighting.. plus I think he was a star here by the time that fight happened, due to his fighting in the States. They probably should've put him in Detroit a bit more, but Detroit is a shithole and his fight there iirc was awful. Trust me, if they want to make Amir Khan a star, just a couple of fights in Chicago would work wonders. Then put him in MSG.. THEN Vegas (a la Hamed). Golden Boy's incompetence at promoting is a separate issue. Re: Khan fighting in MSG, what's the Theater capacity, 5000? There were 4412 fans in attendance.. Khan's first fight in the States, and he's not exactly an established champion, either. That's not bad, though Malignaggi was surely responsible for a lot of it. Again, put him in Chicago against someone he can look good against and knock out, and his profile will rise considerably. Always bet on ethnic chauvinism - ask Bob Arum, he knows how to play that game best.
Hamed was a showman with gimmicks and an explosive puncher, plus he pretty much sold himself. Khan is nothing like Naz in this regard so he would obviously have to be brought along differently. loadedgloves is bang on when he says there are clear markets that can be exploited with Amir and right now he's in a great position to capitalise on them.
Which is why boxing pisses me off. Guys don't want to be tested, they just want to get paid for nothing. Sure that's great FOR THEM, it's a big fuck you to the fans though.
It's like saying "surprisingly, Barry McGuigan found very little support during his fight in front of 50,000 Chelsea fans"
Still think the speed of Khan wins him some rounds early before Bradley works his way in and takes the fight from there... I do believe now that Bradley wins Khan's chin really is shit and his defense is truly awful
The worst thing for Khan now is that the word is basically out on him. Apply pressure, weather the storm, deal with his flurries, land your own bombs and take him out. Even worse, he is now swapping trainers like a hooker swaps germs. He's had what, 4 trainers in 4 years? Not good. I reckon Bradley would grind out a decision over Khan.
Khan's just too predictable, but I give him a shot at winning still against Bradley who isn't a puncher.
#ucking bich bradly need spongee puchers ring and fag juges to beat anyones good are bad chin khan ktfko that loser in a #ucking mile ha hah ha
Kahn's chin and stamina are questionable. Bradley would certainly test his stamina but not likely his chin. That being said, a tired fighter gets KO'd easier than a fresh one.
Bradley will definitely test Kahn stamina and "skills".....but it doesn't take a KO artist to test Khan chin...Danny Garcia had only 14 Ko's in 23...
Please...neither was Danny Garcia....Khan will get KO'ed and beaten for 12 brutal rounds...dude couldn't keep Lamont Peterson off him...STEROIDS or no STEROIDS...Peterson is a weak bitch..
