[h=1]Annie Remake Coming Starring Willow Smith[/h]
[IMG]Will Smith teams up with Jay-Z to produce the Annie remake with Willow Smith starring

Overbrook Entertainment[IMG] partners James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have formed a joint venture with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter to develop and produce major motion pictures. One of the projects being discussed is the re-imagination of the classic Broadway musical[IMG] Annie as a vehicle for Willow Smith to star. The film will be developed with Sony Pictures Entertainment[IMG] and produced by Overbrook Entertainment and Mr. Carter.

The partnership began over dinner with Jada, Will, James Lassiter and Jay-Z, where they decided to co-invest in the now successful beauty products line Carol's Daughter. They continued this partnership as co-producers of the successful Broadway production Fela!, which earned a total of eleven Tony Award nominations[IMG] in 2010.

Additionally, Willow Smith, managed by OE Executive Miguel Melendez, signed onto Jay-Z's record label, Roc Nation which produced her first single titled "Whip My Hair" has been certified Platinum. Jay-Z previously sampled the classic Annie song "It's the Hard Knock Life" in his chart-busting single "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)."

"The time is right to bring back Annie to the big screen. Of course, we're true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role," said Columbia Pictures[IMG] President Doug Belgrad. "Combining Willow with the Overbrook team that re-imagined The Karate Kid and the spectacular Jay-Z makes this a dream project. A decade ago, Jay-Z proved that the power of the underlying Broadway property remains, by showing how these songs could be reinterpreted for a new generation with Hard-Knock Life. We couldn't be more thrilled to be working with our friends at Overbrook as they launch this new venture."

"We are excited to partner together to develop and produce a wide variety of films with our longtime friend Jay-Z, with whom we share a common global vision, both commercially and philosophically, and look forward to collaborating once again with the incredibly talented executives at Sony," said Overbrook Co-Founder James Lassiter.

Stated Shawn Jay-Z Carter, "The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision. We've already produced a Tony Award winning play and we're developing a true superstar in Willow. This venture into film development and production is a perfect next step with teams that are accomplished, creative, and innovative."

Overbrook Entertainment, founded by partners James Lassiter and Will Smith, is committed to offering the highest quality entertainment focused in film and television and has produced a diverse slate of both critically acclaimed and blockbuster feature films, which have generated more than $2.5 billion dollars in worldwide box office receipts[IMG] and even more in home video sales. Some of Overbrook's most successful films include Ali, Hitch, The Pursuit of Happyness, I Am Legend, I Am Legend, The Secret Life of Bees, and most recently The Karate Kid.

Roc Nation is a groundbreaking, multi-tiered, multi-genre music and entertainment company. Founded in 2008 by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter in collaboration with Live Nation[IMG], Roc Nation encompasses artist, songwriter, producer and engineer management; music publishing; touring & merchandising; new business ventures; and a music label.

The Broadway musical Annie is based upon the popular comic strip and features songs with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. The show originally opened on April 21, 1977, and immediately became a hit, winning seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. In 1982, Columbia Pictures released a film adaptation directed by John Huston and starring Albert Finney, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, Tim Curry, and Aileen Quinn as Annie.

Annie was released May 21st, 1982 and stars Albert Finney, Carol Burnett, Ann Reinking, Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, Aileen Quinn, Geoffrey Holder, Roger Minami. The film is directed by John Huston.

Great news right. Not only do we get more of Will Smith's Hollywood nepotism, but we also get another of his annoying kids shoved down our throats and another remake of a film we really don't need.

    Can't wait.

    Dream come true.

    Yadda, yadda, yadda

Good to see Mommy and Daddy Dearest looking out for the best interest of their kids.

I hope we're not going to pretend this is some sort of sacred cow that's going to get trampled upon though.

I think the worst thing about this is Smith knowing his kids aren't good enough to take on an original film so he keeps hitting up remakes so he can ride the coattails of its success. That IMO is the most disgraceful thing. I'd have no problem at all with Smith getting his kids into Hollywood, in all honesty I actually like his kids, especially Willow who I think is the more talented of the two. I just wish he could be more original in a time when Hollywood needs it, but I also understand that in Hollywood, the remake thing is a business decision.

    This is a bad idea.

Even the first 'Annie' was a box office fiasco.

Does anyone remembers 'The Wiz'? It didn't do anything for Diana Ross or Michael Jackson.

The "Karate Kid" Remake Actually WORKED & So will This...

Sure, Will & Jada R BLATANTLY Carving a Path in Hollywood for their Kids, but the Thing is, their Kids have GENUINE CHARISMA...REED WANTED to Hate the "Karate Kid" Remake, but Jaden Smith's Lil' Ass Actually WON REED Over...The Smiths Have NEVER Claimed to Be CREATORS of Motion Pictures, but Thus Far they've Been Very ASTUTE in Which Projects to Recreate...Will is a Big Enough Player in Hollywood to Where NOBODY Is Gonna Prevent him from Doing this & Again, his Kids Actually DO Bring Something to the Table...

"Annie", w/a Black Girl TWIST would Definitely Work Today...20 Years from Now, Jaden AND Willow Smith will Be 2 of THE BIGGEST Stars in Hollywood & They'll have their Parents to Thank for it...

We would hate the kids a lot less if they weren't Will Smith's kids.
Anyway, as we all know, it's all about WHO you know when you want to get an edge in life.

Agreed. None of those kids have any talent. Anthony's just talking sh*t as always. Those kids are getting all the opportunities in life only because of their parents. There are many more kids out there who will never break into Hollywood because they don't have any connections. As always, it's about WHO you know if you want to break in. Either that or a f*ck load of luck! And most of these celebs in the industry aren't particularly talented and certainly didn't get noticed purely for their talent. Look at f*cking Megan Fox who got noticed because the director liked the way she bends over to sponge a car. Well....maybe that IS a talent....

BTW, that Jaden kid did a sh*t job in Karate Kid. He showed zero chemistry with his love interest. The original Karate Kid was far better. The only positive for Jaden was that he put in the physical training for the role which I guess is admirable. But he was completely wrong for the role. Once again, he's getting his break because of his old man. Not because any director actually recognizes his 'talents'.

Wasn't he like 12? Why would he have a love interest? When I was 12, I had barely figured out that girls didn't like it when I ate my own boogers. :nono:

It was the story. Just like the original Karate Kid with Ralph Macchiao and Elizabeth Shue. Jaden Smith's love interest was an Asian girl whom he had no connection with. The movie was fake as sh*t. But Will Smith insisted that his son play the role despite not being suited for it along with the crap script calling for Jaden to have a girlfriend which was completely fake and awkward.

Just because their parents give them breaks in Hollywood, doesnt mean they dont have talent.

Their parents dont force millions of people to buy his daughter's album. his parents dont force millions of people to see his son's movies. And now his son is getting into music too.

Like them or not, these kids have talent.

    Talent my ass!
They got perks because of their old man. They don't have any more talent than tens of thousands of other kids out there. Their entire celebrity is manufactured. They have no talent at all. They're just being shoved down peoples' throats almost as much as the Kardashians.

    agREED...

Being INTERESTING for the Duration of a Motion Picture ISN'T an Easy Thing to Do...Hanz is Trippin' Because Jaden (Who Probably DOESN'T Even have HAIR on his Balls Yet) Wasn't Believable w/his Love Interest, but THE FACT Is, the Kid has Charisma...

If he was on a Stage in a Room Full of Strangers, he'd ENTERTAIN them...That Takes TALENT...

People Can Hate the METHOD the Smith's are Taking to Get their Kids Famous, but these Kids have GENUINE Talent...& Being Honest, it's NO Different than Other Directors Casting Bitches that Give them Ass or Blowjobs...Hell, every Single Ron Howard Flick Contains a Cameo by his Brother...
