I go for Arnold because if I picture them together in the same movie going against each other the only scenario that I can envision in my head is Arnie kicking his ass.

    Definitely Arnie.

I think Sly tried to crack the serious acting lark but it just didn't work out. Arnie for the most part played to his strengths.

How you figure it didn't work out? Stallone did a good job and got lots of positive reviews for his acting in Copland.

 I knew people would bring up Copland, He was excellent. Im not saying Arnie is a better actor.

While Sly was trying to expand his career Arnie stuck to his strengths and as such is the action hero.

You're out of your mind. At least when it comes to ranking Segal above Sly. Segal's got what 4-5 decent action flicks and has only been around since the 90's. Sly's got dozen's of awesome action films and has been doing it since the 80's. Hell I wouldn't even rate Willis over Stallone. At least not when it comes to who's the bigger action star. Better overall actor though, you have to put Willis over Sly, Arnie and of course Segal who is on the lower tier IMO with Van Damn.

Willis is second generation action star. It's Sly and arnold. When Arnold and sly were doing their thing, Willis was making moonlighting. And he has been a bunch of stupid shit.

Arnold is the bigger star, but Stallone is the most accomplished.

what good action movies was stallone in? Rambo and what else? :scratcher:

even Matt Damon has been in more good action movies than Stallone has

i'm just wondering since when is Slallone undisputedly a top 2 action star :dunno: he's been in a lot of action movies and has longevity, sure...but you have to take quality ito account too

I'll say it is a tie. In the 80's both ruled supreme, but in the 90's Stallone faded while Arnold got bigger box office success. Both have two iconic characters in their resume (Stallone: Rocky & Rambo; Arnold: Terminator & Conan). Both have their share of success and some big flops (Stop or my mom will shoot...The Last Action Hero almost put the studio in bankrupcy). While I like Arnold I just plain hate his accent which at times is undecipherable and his acting skills are none existent: he just plays himself and has memorable one liners. His best roles are the ones he barely talks (Conan, Terminator). Stallone has an ackward voice and the partial paralysis on the side of his face doesn't help, but he is a much better actor than Arnold and his roles are a little bit more deeper. I'll rewatch DEMOLITION MAN (1993) any day over The Last Action Hero (1993). In the 90's Stallone tried to diversy while Arnold turned to comedy. Some of his comedies were good, but forgettable like Twins, but others were just plain embarrassing like Junior. While box office wise Arnold has the upper hand, in terms of film legacy both are equally iconic as action stars.

Correction: Stallone has been doing it since the 70's (Capone, Death Race 2000, Rocky, Rocky II, Nighthawks).

1994 was the end of the Stallone/Arnold era. Arnold's last big hit movie was True Lies and Stallone's last respectable flick was Demolition Man. Basically 1994 marked the end of their careers. Everything else they did, while making modest box office, just never measured up.

Wow, Arnold has aged worst than these other guys. And I am not talking about wrinkles in the face.

It was widely known and accepted that Stallone was a poor man's Arnold back in the action film hey-day. It's not a knock against Stallone, Arnold was just the best in that era and had no equal. The man had charisma like no other.

Yea I had heard about that project a while back but I don't know that its a certainty. I think it was just a concept. Probably throwing the idea out there to see if anyone has interest in it.

it is clear though that Arnold is trying to get his acting career going again with a few new movies coming out. I'm really curious to see if he's still got the spark or not. Time is usually cruel to action stars and Arnold hasn't done himself any favors with his recent media attention with his wife.
