Wasn't he supposed to be blonde and wearing a silly green Robin Hood costume?

I watched the premiere episode and it was surprisingly good. I was expecting a juvenile treatment ala Smallville with doses of soap opera themes ala Revenge or Dallas, but instead I was treated with an adult approach more closer to The Bourne Identity than to anything I have seen on network tv in recent years. The action was top notch, past paced fights, excellent martial arts coreography worthy of any big screen action film. And this Green Arrow doesn't abide by any rules: he actually kills people either with his arrows or via hand to hand combat, breaking thugs necks or throwing them from rooftops. What I didn't like is that, like in the comicbook, Oliver Queen is a 'billionaire playboy whose alterego is a vengeful vigilante-like crime fighter'. While DC has done this angle one too many times, this character will be seen as a rip-off of Batman to most viewers which is kind of unfair. I wished for once that the tv version would have changed that. Oh, it is a nice touch that the character of Dinah Laurel Lance (the future Black Canary) is already a regular in this show. And I can also see hints of other DC characters that might show up in the future. I think I will be following this show just see if it retains the same quality it did in its first episode and how they develop the potential of those future scenarios. First episode 8/10

It was just a joke bro. I wasn't necessarily picking on you, you just happened to post two different threads on a show and a film genre of which I thought were gay. I was mostly joking around though.

I think I'll pass but thanks for the offer. I don't watch much tv and usually when I do I just wait and download the whole season. You wouldn't believe how many regular tv series that I've never seen once and this Arrow show will definitely join in that list.

I do believe you since I think I watch even less tv than you. :giggle: In fact just recently is that I started watching tv series (on Netflix) with the exception of Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones (this last one I missed the whole first season when it first came out). I discovered LOST after its third season. I watched only the first season of 24 (on dvd) after it was already around for a few years. To be honest I stopped watching regular tv series on a weekly basis after Star Trek: The Next Geberation ended and that was in the 90's. The first series that I started watching after that one was LOST's fourth season.

Just watched the first season and half of the second season. Some people liked the last season a lot, but I have never bother to check out that one.

If you're watching Game of Thrones you're good. Nothing else need be seen. C'ept maybe The Wire.

Nah, it's about drug dealers and the police officers who try to bring them down. You follow both sides of the story and find your self rooting for many of the characters on both sides. This is a very character driven series, and I think the characters and the actors who portray them are a big part of the shows success.

It's not like that dude. Trust me, I'm no cop show fan either, but this show is really good, one of the best series I've seen. I rate it right behind Game of Thrones. But I understand, people will tell us about a show and we just say it doesn't sound good. Well I was the same way for both Game of Thrones and The Wire. What finally made me watch both of those shows was me constantly hearing how good they were and finally having to see it for myself, and you know what? Both shows were better than I could have imagined. But it's up to you to find out for yourself as nobody can actually convince you to watch a show by telling you how good it is and what it's about, you have to see for yourself.
