And you are a f@#&ng moron if you think Rios can't KO Garcia within five rounds. Rios hits harder than Khan so don't get too impressed by that fight. Morales, a senior citizen in boxing terms, gave hell to Garcia. The way Garcia throws punches opening wide will be his death sentence. Mark my words: Rios absolutely anihilates him.
I'm the most relevant Puerto Rican here. :ant: Yeah I agree Rios takes Garcia out but it would be a fun fight to watch.:bears:
Why is Garcia so underrated? Rios would lose to Garcia just like he would've lost to Alvarado had he not been so careless in the midst of beating Rios' ass.
Alvarado got careless? LOL. Alvarado simply got broken down. Rios was nailing him with hard shots EVERY round, and eventually they took their toll. Simply as that. Alvarado "boxed" as well as he possibly could for a guy without much boxing ability, but it still couldn't change the fact that he has no defense. Rios stops Alvarado 10/10 times. Garcia-Rios would depend a lot on what type of fight it becomes. A more measured fight where Danny can pick his shots, and walk Rios into counters favors Garcia. An all out brawl favors Rios.
Careless?? Both fighters were fighting the only way the could...slugging it out...Alvarado was trying to be a bit defensive early..but if you listen to his corner the trainer told him "that little shoulder roll shit isn't working"...and it WASN'T. They slugged it out...Rios was hurt in one of the early rounds...but survive...Alvarado got rocked and didn't...
Agreed, Rios simply broke him down. Alvarado fought very well, but Rios's shots took their toll more than Alvarado's, simple as that. Rios's main strength is he can fucking absorb punishment like a sponge and keep coming, without getting remotely discouraged or worn down.
Garcia has the answer for aggression and speed- namely timing. With Rios, Garcia's bummish, mechanical attacks won't be exposed, he'll be able to find and time his man. I think that could be the difference.
I'll sigbet anyone who fancies Garcia against Rios. Like Alvarado, Garcia will do very well and land some flush, clean counters, and appear to be winning the fight before Rios breaks him down. But just like Alvarado again, Rios's offense will be taking it's toll far more than Garcia's.
I like Garcia. But I just think Rios would force him to brawl and he'd be too strong and too powerful for him. But I think Danny boy gives a good account of himself.
Garcia beats Rios in my opinion. Let's hope it happens (doubtful). I think Garcia's punching power in particular, and his timing too, are overlooked. Alvarado had some nice rounds and I felt he was winning. Maybe his defeat was inevitable in hindsight (I felt he was trading needlessly near the end). But either way, Alvarado didn't have the kindd of timing and accuracy that we'd see from Garcia. Garcia would surprise Rios and I think crack his chin when he does. And if he didn't? And Rios didn't give him the opportunity? He'd be losing rounds in the process. Rios' defense too crummy to win that match up in my opinion.
My argument wasn't with Rios-Garcia. You COULD be right. It's possible Garcia can crack Rios' chin if he counters him enough times. Danny does hit harder than anyone Rios has faced. But Alvarado didn't lose because he got careless. And what are you talking about "needless trading"? THAT'S ALL ALVARADO DOES! He's a brawler! He lost to Rios because Rios is a better brawler with more power, technique, and a better chin.
garcia will beat rios surprisingly easy They both would get humiliated by a prime Edwin Rosario,....who was a B level fighter at best
Rios, Khan, and Garcia are, it has to be said, proof of a general downward trend in the quality of supposed upper-tier fighters. It's now clear that the 2006 version of Morales, had he bulked up {i.e. eaten} to 140 probably would have kicked the shit out of all 3 of them.
I agree. Danny is becoming very confident in himself since the first Morales win. He also seems to have a bigger punch then I expected as well. He times them punches very well. I think Danny has a very good chance in cracking that chin. He will have many chances because we all know Rios is stationary.
no, boxing is awesome... never better... there has never been so many awesome fighters as there is now
Rios, Garcia, and Matthyse are hardly all time greats, but they're all quality fighters and EXCITING fighters. So while the overall talent pool in the sport isn't what it used to be, 140 is still a very hot division.
Will Garcia just stand there taking bombs like Alvarado did? I don't think so. Rios will have to chase him down, he ain't standing there like a punching bag.
yeah and beer don't taste as great as it used to, girls aren't as pretty, and boys are sissier. getting completely embarassed and KTFO in 4 one sided round made you arrive to this conclusion::
Agreed, he's hardly a brawler, but Rios would find him plenty easy to tag. His defense and movement are pretty average.
2006 is 6 years ago... a lifetime in this sport Are you impressed by Garcia knocking out a used-up, flabby old man whose glory days occurred a decade ago 10+ pounds south?
