Team building exercise. Let's find something we all like.

    I'll start...

generally, the latter... unless the lyrics are an integral part of some generally stupid theme I don't like

that said, I appreciate good lyrics, even if they are in general, unimportant and inherently non-musical

I like that... George Harrison played slide guitar in a very beautiful way... not technically mind blowing, just sweet and melodic

Neither really. For me music's associative & Roscarch-y - images, pre verbal ideas; the melody, lyrics, delivery, instrumentation, visual accompaniment even time & place etc are vehicles for that. If they're all pulling the same way (or clashing in a way that works) each is 'good'. For instance David Byrne's Talking Heads stuff made profound, zeitgesit-defining sense to me.....as stand alone poetry allot of its semi-gibberish, consciously so. It just flashes up micro-ideas and links them together with all the other elements in combinations that say something.

Lyrics? Something that music-critics and writers look into.

yes... he plays a simple slide figure twice... once in the instrument's middle range starting in the key of "D"... Later, after the last chorus, he plays the same exact figure, only he plays it an octave higher and embellishes on it

The Police were cool, had some great songs. Never got into Rush, I know Cdogg hates Neil Peart but the guy inspired Dave Grohl to get behind a drum kit so they at least deserve some kudos for that

Doesn't matter who hates Neil Peart, doesn't change the fact that he's one of the best ever which is still an opinion as well, but shared by damn near everyone in the rock world.

Any drummer who's Dave Grohl's flavor-of-the-month is his inspiration.

I think he's said many times that Peart and Bonham were his major influences growing up

    Fuck that noise

He's thought of as the best solely by retards, hard rock guys who grew up listening to that shit and can't bring themselves to rate him correctly

He can't play shit outside of the confines of that stupid group

Just within the confines of rock music or progressive rock music, there's been dozens of drummers better than him... never mind how many jazz drummers, session guys, etc. who shit on him from great heights
