Rios gets outclassed if Broner can carry the weight.

Rios is considerably better than DeMarco AND Burns though.

Yeah, I think Boner could move up to 140 tomorrow and stop Khan easily.

I would like to see Rios vs Boner actually, it would be interesting.

Rios would have his moments though. Broner wouldn't have it all his own way in that one

I'm sure Broner would be honored to hear this Floyd comparison, but this was the best technical beat down in a lightweight championship since Floyd vs Philip Ndou.

    Probably.

How do you see DeMarco vs Ndou going?

I think Ndou would KO him.

I thought Broner looked really good. My only question would be his gas tank... thought he looked tired the last couple rounds, fighting with his mouth open. Demarco was finished so it didn't matter.

Love that Broner fought him on the inside. He's much better than I thought.

And that Banks KO was the feel good boxing moment of the year.

    Enjoyable card tonight.

I'd favour Broner over the top guys at 140. Hopefully all these fights happen soon.

My favourite quote from Broner's post fight interview:

wow did Broner looked good and boy did DeMarco looked like shit. I expected Demarco to give him a real tough fight and it wasn't even a contest. Don't know if it's because I overrated DeMarco but there's no doubt that Broner is far better than I thought he was. Sadly, lw is pretty much a waste land and I don't see Broner in a interesting fight until he moves up to jrww. Burns and Vasquez are not in his league imo.

That'll Make Broner Fights More Consistently EXCITING than Floyd Fights Are/Were...

There's the SURFACE Similarities (Shoulder Roll Defense, Using the Forearms to Push Off, etc.), but Broner's ALOT more Flat Footed than a 23 Year Old Floyd Ever was...Broner COMMITS Much More to his Punches than Young Floyd Did, & he Doesn't Contort his Upper Body Near as Much as ANY Version of Floyd...

The Floyd Influence is TRANSPARENT, but it's NOT as if Broner Fights EXACTLY like him, Either...His Defense ISN'T as Air Tight, Resulting in Broner TAKING more Shots...It's Highly Doubtful Broner will Be Undefeated in his Mid 30's, but he'll Be in MORE Fan Friendly Bouts than Floyd & Register More KO's for Certain...

In Terms of Personality, Broner is Faaaaaaaaaaar More ENGAGING...He's a More NATURAL, More COMFORTABLE Speaker than ANY Version of Floyd...There's a FUN LOVING Tone to Broner's Public Antics that Floyd is INCAPABLE of OR Tooooooooo SELF CENTERED to Even Attempt...REED Gets why Some Are Put Off by Broner, but @ the Core, he's MUCH More LIKABLE than Floyd Mayweather is...Over Time, this'll Prove to Be True...

REED Won't Make Toooooo Much of Last Night...Prior to the Bout, REED Said the Pressure was On Broner to Look IMPRESSIVE...He Did...Great Fighters LOOK Great when they NEED to Look Great, Most of the Time...Broner Passed this Particular Test w/Flying Colors, but there's Many More Forthcoming, in the Next Few Years...

Broner's Fights & Interviews are FUN, so Let's Enjoy the Ride...

Broner is definitely better than I thought, he looked good in this fight. BUT, DeMarco fucking sucks, he really does. Xplosive is trying to make out DeMarco is this good, solid fighter, to enhance this win - but the truth is he is nothing at world level. That was obvious before this fight. He is tough and has heart, but that's about it. He is incredibly basic, slow, not very fast, and has no defense.

But Broner is obviously a good fighter. Seems pretty weird he lost to Ponce now.

I would love to see Broner against Rios. I think that's a pick em fight.

broner looked strong at 135. can't really compare him to floyd since floyd was much more mobile on his feet and moved a lot when he was younger. broner fights more like winky except throws more fluid combos (especially hooks) and punches a lot harder.

i'd rather see the winner of pac/marquez 4 vs. broner than rios.

He's much more witty and charismatic than Floyd, thats for sure.

Floyd is kinda boring when he talks trash. So inarticulate and uninventive. Even on the 24/7 he just comes off so FORCED whereas Broner, much like the great trash talkers of our sport, comes off natural and it just flows with him.

Absolutely, & it's NOT Even Close...Broner's ALREADY a Much Better Talker than ANY Version of Floyd Ever Was & he's NOT Mean Spirited about it...

People are Soooo Caught Up in Hating Broner Because he FIGHTS Similarly to Floyd, but they're DIFFERENT Guys when it Comes to Playing to an Audience...Broner's Actually ENGAGING & REED Finds himself Wondering What Dude'll do Next....Whereas w/Floyd, REED Couldn't Care Less What he Says or Does Next...

Broner is a much nicer human being than PBF. He doesn't have that psycho-disturbed glare that PBF does.

One thing about the DeMarco fight. He hit him with the kitchen sink and never really hurt him. Does DeMarco have an amazing chin? Or does Broner lack the fire power he'd need for his style to work against the likes of Rios or Mathysse?

No. DeMarco was strangely uninhibited by the shots he took. Even the ones he hadn't seen, and the sharp uppercuts. They were obviously driving Broner to victory...winning him the fight. But they weren't discouraging him. It's a question because I don't know, but it seems possible at this point that Broner is the kind of weak-wristed hitter that fighters like Rios can walk down and eventually overcome even in the face of an alarming number of clean shots landed. Plus, Broner was fairly exhausted by the end of the fight which tells me was loading up. Could be DeMarco's chin of course is extraordinary. It's clear Broner ennoyed quite the size advantage at 130 .

Agree. Other then the shoulder roll, Broner and Floyd are really nothing alike.

Floyd fights from the outside and controls distance at all times. Broner, controls the distance from inside the pocket, and it leaves him more vulnerable. It's also necessary because of his height.

Broner is also much more likable. Floyd just comes off as a sociopath. Boxing needs more characters like Broner right now.

As impatient as we are to see fighters challenge themselves, I think Broner should spend a little time acclimating at 135 before jumping up to 140. I think guys at 140 will probably be able to walk through his shots fairly easily, at this time.

Did you guys see the pre fight interview with Merchant? When Larry was asking him about the weight cheating, and other stuff?

Gotta admit, I just don't see what REED and Hut see, in regards to him being funny, or likeable. Just seems like an arrogant little cunt to me, literally no more likeable than Floyd, or funny :dunno:

I'll admit, that turned me off a bit. But he didn't react any different then any other boxer in that situation. I've yet to run into a boxer who failed to make weight, and expressed remorse about it later on.

To be fair, being funnier or more likeable than Floyd Mayweather is akin to being tougher than Justin Bieber or more heterosexual than Dale Winton. It isn't a massive ask.

I've grown to like the kid. At first he was quite irritating and I just wanted to see someone wipe the smug grin off his face, but after the DeMarco fight I respect him much more and will look forward to his fights and even his interviews. He's cocky, but he can be because he is a very good boxer. I think he can move up to 140 and beat quite a few guys there.
