Michael Dokes was finished when Bowe gave him a title shot. That was a complete joke of a title fight.
agree, he doesn't fit the definition... and Hamsho, like most guys Hagler beat the hell out of, has been relegated by revisionist history to bum status
This is what happens when folks' knowledge of Hamsho begins and ends with watching his rematch with Hagler on YouTube...
I don't know if I'd go that far since even around that time, he could still beat some decent fighters. And even if he was, that was a year and half after the Moore fight and three years after the Hamsho fight. But yes, I would agree that Benitez was closer to finished in 1986 than he was in 1983-1984,
the SRL -camacho fight was sad.. BOTH guys were shot but to see Ray THAT shot was really hard to watch
Hamsho was no joke and he would give Hopkins a better fight than he did Hagler. They'd have to put this fight in a WWF steel cage style match. Hamsho is one of the few middleweights who was as dirty as Hopkins and also good at getting opponents out of their game plan. Except for Hagler who was not only a lot better, but a really bad style match for Hamsho.
Agreed...Hamsho was not that talented but very strong and very "RUGGED" as they used to say about dirty, cunning fighters. I still think he loses to Hopkins but he was made to order for Hagler, who was not at any physical or talent disadvantage with the squat Hamsho.
Wow. This is boring. At least Dokes had some actual heavyweight credentials, unlike the totally washed up cruiser Mormeck that Wlad "fought". And Bowe got Dokes right out of there rather than peck his hopelessly outclassed opponent to death like Wlad did against the ghost of Mormeck.
