Honestly, this might be the final straw for Silva. The dude's last two wins in the UFC have been wiped out by failed drug test. He is 1-3 with 2 No Contest over his last 6 fights. That's a recipe for getting a pink slip from Dana White.

I'm obviously less critical of marijuana than PED's, but Silva should be shown the door.

It's pretty stupid of the fighters to get busted for weed. I mean you work so damn hard to get in shape. Go through hell to get your win and then it's not only wiped out but you might lose your job because you felt like you just had to smoke some weed couple weeks before the fight ? Being fully aware that they will test you for it to boot ? Idiots. He deserves to be cut just for being stupid.

Send his ass to Bellator or some other organization who needs some name talent. This guy was never going to contend for the title anyway.

  3. Surely he knows he's going to get busted....so if you're going to get caught, get caught with something effective.

At least boxer's are hammering PEDs and HGHs...

Seriously, UFC should NOT test for Marihuana. Shit is already legal in three states and soon will be in most of US and the world. It does not enhance your motor/mental skills.

UFC doesn't test for it, the commission does.

It should be taken off the banned substance list. It's not helping anyone in a fight.

We passed it legal here in Washington...... Nick and Thiago should ask all their fights be in Seattle or Denver. Just sayin.

I think it's dangerous for people to fight high.

The argument is that it harms a fighter's chances in a fight and therefore deserves to be banned.
I suppose it also harms the organzation's and the sport's images.

I don't like testing for it, but I suppose a small penalty...say 10% of a fighter's purse (or less)....could be implemented in the situations where a fighter tests positive for pot AND loses

Nick can get a exemption and fight anywhere, since he has a card and lives in Ca where it's legal for medical uses.

I seriously doubt anyone is toking it up right before a fight, it's just still in their system. It can stay in your system for months.

lol, exactly, who's gonna smoke a joint right before a fight ?? Maybe crazy horse but that's about it ( and that explains largely why he was a journeyman ).

I've always thought by way of urinalysis, THC was detectable for up to a month, and fewer than that if the individual was active, as such with a professional athlete in training.
