According to rumours, Welshman, Gavin Rees will be WBC lightweight champion, Adrien Broner's next opponent. If this is confirmed, the fight will take place on the 16th February 2013, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Rees (37-1-1, 18 KO's), was scheduled to face John Murray earlier this month at London's Olympia, but Murray failed a medical which resulted in the fight being called off.

Former WBA light-welterweight champion, Rees, 32, was rumoured to be in talks with interim WBA lightweight champion, Richard Abril, but that now seems to be swept under the carpet.

Broner (25-0-0, 21 KO's), was looking set to take on WBO lightweight champion, Ricky Burns, early next year, but that is now looking unlikely as the two parties could not get a deal finailized.

Well, that is nice, but........American fans will be asked for $60 to see Broner light up a guy who was stopped by Kotelnik.

People are calling Burns chicken shit and saying he's trying his best to not face Broner at all. I think this is bullshit. Burns was just not happy with the amount of wonga being offered.

I swear I heard Broner say on live tv that he would go to Glasgow and fight Burns. Of course he would, but his crew wouldn't.

    I like Broner though.

Gavin has had a few decent domestic wins but the last time he fought at world level he was found out.

I want to see Burns whoop Broner :num:

I really can't see this happening now.

If the Rees fight is made, then Broner will smack the little Welshman around the place for 5-6 rounds, the he could face Abril or Vazquez at 135, then move up to 140.

HBO is not that stupid....that PPV would be the biggest flop in history...of course they might only need 75K buys to cut even...but I don't see 'em getting half of that..

Why not? The economics of fights in Britain generally work....13, 14k bums on seats, late start to align it with US TV. I cant imagine Broner would be scared of Burns either he'd be a big favourite

We're kind of where it is at right now. Hitler set us back a century or so but we are closing the gap.
