He loses points because it's basically a rip off of City on Fire

Jackie Brown is shite, and I liked Inglorious basters more than Kill Bill. It's hard to top Pulp Fiction so I don't blame the man. His style is fun and most of his films are worthy to watch in theaters.

This scene with Deniro was fucking brilliant. Deniro was terrific. The look he gives her when she says the job is too much was the greatest.

I think im gonna watch this movie tomorrow again. Fucking Classic.

It loses even more points because it blatantly ripped-off the plot of the excellent 1971 made-for-tv movie "The Day of The Wolves", one the best heist films ever made. Even the concept of each robber not allowed to reveal his own name, but using colors was lifted from that film which uses numbers instead of colors. When I first watched Reservoir Dogs my first reaction was 'Shit! This is a rip-off!!" The original tv movie is still better.

Tarantino obviously watched it and critics noted that too. I never heard of "City of Fire" until you brought it up. I'm sure Tarantino watched both films. The Day of the Wolves was well received, it also played in theaters in many parts of the world and probably also 'inspired' the makers of "City of Fire'!

the ultimate style-over-substance film... it is drenched in 70s kitsch ... too bad it's a boring pile of shit... one of the shittiest films I ever had the misfortune of watching... I saw the cast and thought "that must be good"... no

    Agreed.
The more this guy made movies, the worse of a rip-off merchant he became.
Nothing...NOTHING of his has been anything but a rip-off or cleverly disguied as a rip-off from other movies.

A creepy-looking, nerdy-sounding video-store guy who spent all his days watching shitty movies that no-one else watched, ripping them off and then saying 'Niger' in every movie. (even in movies set in Outer Space or World War 2).

Seriously creepy guy with a massive chin...probably chases kids.

No. There are obvious similarities in the plot. The main difference is that Tarantino focused more on the dialogue between the characters while The Day of the Wolves focuses more on the execution of the plan and the action. It also has an effective surprise ending (well, at that time it was).

I liked it for one viewing, but I will never call it great. In contrast to Pulp Fiction it has zero repeat viewing value.

Even as She's AGED, REED NEVER Grows Tired of Looking @ Pam Grier...She USED to Be Soooo HOT, REED Cuts her Slack, Even Though she's a Bloated SHELL of her Former Self...REED's Perpetually AMUSED by Samuel L. Jackson as Well...Hell, Bridget Fonda Even Looked a Bit FUCKABLE for Probably the 1st Time EVER...

Nonetheless, "Jackie Brown" was CRAP that Doesn't Even Deserve a 2nd Viewing...

No doubt it was an inspiration for Reservoir, but to call it one of the great heist movies ever is a bit ridiculous panch.

    DJango Unchained Review

DJANGO UNCHAINED - Just returned from the movie theater watching this. What can I say? This is a freaking great film! A true crowd pleaser and most likely the best film of the year and Quentin Tarantino's best film since Pulp Fiction. All the actors did a splendid job: from the coolness of Jamie Fox titular character, Leonardo DiCaprio chewing the scenery with gusto, to Samuel L. Jackson's old black house servant. Even Don Johnson made a great (and funny) racist plantation owner. But for my money Christoph Waltz stole the film. He deserves an Academy Award for his magnificent portrayal of Dr. Schultz, the dentist turned bounty hunter. The film is pure popcorn fun and bloody as hell. When the carnage starts, the bodycount goes through the roof. Quentin Tarantino showed a little restraint by no allowing his brief cameo character say the "N" word in a film where it was mentioned every five minutes or so. Do yourself a favor and watch this excellent film destined to become a modern western classic. 10/10

This is a totally different story from the 1966 italian film. The only similarities is that they both are westerns with the name Django attached to it. And the original film's star, Franco Nero, has a cameo spot in this film.

    Saw it last night. 9/10

Pretty great movie. The German was great in and so was Dicaprio and so was Samuel L Jackson, who I think was pretty fucking awesome. Jamie Foxx was okay not bad not great, he was good enough I would say. Overall it's a fun movie.

Christopher Waltz was also fantastic in Inglorious Bastards. He is a great actor. I haven't seen the movie yet.

Waltz was great in the Bestards movie but the movie itself just didn't do it for me. The subtitles didn't help either.
